A relaxing game where you rebuild historic structures in France without worrying about time constraints or budget. The entire game has a laid-back tone. When you select an objective, a waypoint will direct you there. Pick a rock and you’ll see exactly where to place it. It’s constant hand-holding that you grow to cherish when you realize that finding tiny pieces of artifact would’ve been impossible without this feature. You start with an old village house where you earn your first points in four professions. Despite getting better in each field, the number itself means nothing. You still need to tackle projects in a linear order. The tasks are pretty much the same for each site: clear the site of rubble and debris, fix holes and roof, find and restore objects to its former glory, etc. While monuments look quite good, the surrounding area suffers from lack of detail. Especially bad are flat maps in the distance, flat ground below the water surface and static clouds. The inside of structures is largely vacant and monotonous, with only a few locations for restored antiques. Decorating the place does not fall under your tasks. What I enjoy are minor surprises, like uncovering a hidden chamber when you knock down a wall or an underground cellar when you clean some dirt. Vectromirror

There is no need to worry about wood, tiles, or any other materials because everything you need is on the site. Occasionally, you’ll have to send some items away for further processing by clicking on the box or order something by clicking the spinning file. The delivery usually takes around five minutes. It’s simple to pick things up and use them. You don’t have to rush to the box for every single roof shingle. It’s hilarious how you can stack up wooden beams and huge blocks like they’re nothing. Simply grab the entire bundle, press and hold the mouse button, then move the mouse while pointing at the areas that have been highlighted. The same goes for your tools. Either the precise tool icon is immediately displayed when you click on the working area, or the tool box must be opened with the middle mouse button before you can choose the only suitable tool. There were some bugs that I ran into, and they were usually fixed by returning to the main menu and resuming the game. I experienced things falling through the ground and places that didn’t recognize the tool. One that bothered me the most is that scaffolding has to be built again when returning to the site. However, this isn’t an issue if you complete the site in one sitting. Some visual mistakes such as invisible walls can also occur. Achievements are a huge plus and are awarded for completing a site and restoring artifacts. Nothing is missable. I’m not sure why the game has the early access tag because it feels complete. If this means new sites in future updates, I would be happy to return to the game.
