In this game you control a cell, moving through clouds of glucose, ammonia, phosphate, hydrogen sulfide and iron. You can absorb a fraction of your body with these substances. Glucose and iron can be converted into energy. The other substances can be converted into glucose. When you run out of resources and energy, you lose health and die, halving the number of your species. When you have collected a number of resources you can add elements to your cell, such as extra iron into energy, or extra propellant to your cell. It looks very scientific biology-like, but it’s exactly the same like a game as FTL, it’s your little spaceship-cell! There are several techniques possible for victory. Small fast & nimble to outrun your competitors, or big and lumpy to devour everything. The game is still in development luckily not abandoned like a lot of promising games did. Currently there is one phase but the game is on a good foundation also the core gameplay for this phase is more or less done but still needs a bit more variation. Most of us buying now will either lose interest entirely at some point or only revisit the game periodically to see what’s new. The attention to detail extends to the gameplay mechanics as well, with a wide range of abilities and upgrades to unlock and master. The storyline of Thrive is also a major selling point. Set in a dystopian future where humanity is on the brink of extinction, players must navigate through a world filled with danger and intrigue.
