Once Stardust arrives in town, it becomes clear nothing is as it seems – the letter from her parents asking her to return has suddenly transformed into a receipt, and cultists afflicted with glowing eyes dubbed the “Sacramen-cho stare” are immediately jarring. Worshipers of the Eldritch goat goddess Rhok’zan, Stardust hopes to find a way to save the city from them by summoning her. Once she does, two things become clear: firstly, Rhok’zan agrees things have gotten out of hand, and wishes to be banished by a series of rituals, and secondly, they’re immensely attracted to one another. Without delving too much into the minutiae of the game’s lore, what follows is a sort of Groundhog Day-esque scenario in which Stardust repeatedly finds herself back at the house facing different cultists, burning it all down, and returning once more. Each time, there will be new followers to meet, face off with, and potentially save from brainwashing. Their backstories are interesting, but the standout by far is the aforementioned flirty caprine fertility goddess, who manages to be both sultry and sympathetic despite causing a slew of death and destruction. Players will sneak around through Japanese sliding doors, listen for pursuers intent on doing them harm, collect important items to free tortured souls from their curse of want and overcome a series of frightening horrors through mysterious and esoteric means supplied by half-heard noises, hurried research, and your own failing memory. Not all of these sections are created equally, but the good bits are extremely good. Handyman Legend 

Luckily, with the gameplay divided up like that, players can easily revisit sections that they enjoyed again, should the desire ever arise. Stardust’s home is pretty run down since everyone left or was taken away, but plenty of relics from her past still litter the halls. It turns out the house is no longer empty, though, as when exploring her old bedroom our protagonist has an encounter with a demon. Apparently this heart of darkness is here because of The Black Goat of the Woods Rhok’Zan, but not everything about this spooky character is as it seems. Instead of being some sort of monster hellbent on taking lives, Rhok’Zan is actually a demon who feels awful about the current situation. She didn’t want to corrupt thousands of people and turn them into scary cultists, and now would like nothing more than to break the curse on the house and be banished from the world. Happy to help with this, Stardust agrees to perform a whole bunch of rituals to expel Rhok’Zan from her house, but along the way something surprising happens: the two fall in love. It doesn’t take long to realise that this specific goat monster is particularly horny (pun very much intended) and she almost immediately starts throwing herself at our helpful hero. Romance is on the cards in Sucker for Love: Date to Die For, so I hope you’re into goat demons with massive boobs because that’s what you’re going to get here. It might be a bit raunchy for some, but the interactions between Stardust and Rhok’Zan are actually very endearing and funny, and even this asexual writer enjoyed watching them awkwardly flirt.
