New Tales from the Borderlands Free Download Unfitgirl The fact that New Tales from the Borderlands exists at all warms my heart, considering that it had to defy the death of Telltale Games to do so. The original 2014 episodic adventure grabbed me with its excellent writing, sharp sense of humor, and likable main characters in Fiona and Rhys. While the unconnected, full-game-in-one-box follow-up gets a lot of things right, its attempts to flesh out the Telltale formula – not to mention the runtime – bog down what is otherwise a funny romp on a new planet with a new cast of anti-heroes. What I like most about New Tales from the Borderlands are its three new protagonists: the prudish, know-it-all scientist Anu; her street-smart, fame-chasing adopted brother Octavio; and the rageaholic frozen yogurt shop owner Fran. L0u13 (“Louie”), a killbot who starts to question the purpose of his one-note existence and gets a lot of laughs by the time the end credits roll, is also along for the ride in a non-playable role. New Tales was handled by Borderlands developer Gearbox itself in the wake of Telltale’s demise, but the quality of its characters and their humor is fairly consistent. The group starts out on their respective individual paths but is quickly brought together by, in typical Borderlands fashion, a Vault, its treasure, and an evil corporation. And the first 80% of New Tales does a rather good job of mimicking what made the first Tales game so great: silly humor delivered admirably by talented motion capture and voice actors, cartoonish violence, and separate but interweaving plotlines.Unfitgirl.COM SEXY GAMES

And like Vaughn and Claptrap before them, some of the side characters you meet along the way supply some of the most memorable moments, notably the nameless, action-figure-obsessed Tediore corporate soldier, the codependent talking gun Brock, and the ex-Psycho fittingly named Stapleface. You’ll have plenty of chances to throw zingers and one-liners at everyone, be they friend or foe, and your four dialogue options in each exchange are always appealing enough to make it tough to quickly choose just one.  That said, playing New Tales as a full, non-episodic game really highlights why the Telltale-style adventure works best episodically: it’s ideally consumed in small doses. To New Tales’s credit, it gives you every opportunity to play it that way, with breaks between its five 1-2-hour episodes that show how your choices compare to other players, just like in Telltale’s original. Within each episode, though, actual gameplay is almost comically minimal, which will be familiar to Telltale veterans. There are no puzzles to speak of; you’re mostly just watching cutscenes and performing the occasional quick-time event – though I do have to give props to the excellent music video montage-style sequences that happen in each episode. Sure, your controller is down, but they’re a fun and refreshing way to break up the large swaths of QTE’s and dialogue trees. New Tales tries to give your hands more to do by occasionally letting you wander around a scene, examining objects and opening crates for cash that you’ll never be able to spend all of on the cache of cosmetic character skins.

New Tales from the Borderlands THE UNDERDOG STORY OF THREE LOVABLE NOBODIES.

Or participate in minigames such as hacking or the Vaultlander action-figure fights. These activities are a nice diversion on paper, but they’re all laughably simple. I’m not sure you could fail one if you tried, and while that in and of itself isn’t unforgivable, there’s also no better reward for acing these sequences instead of simply passing them. I love a bad joke. Dad jokes, terrible puns and oneliners—they all appeal to me, which is why I have always found the Borderlands universe painfully funny. I’m still laughing about the town called Buttsville in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. The original Tales from the Borderlands was as hilarious as it was heartwarming, introducing new characters who—thanks to its adventure games structure—actually had a purpose and a story I cared about. And despite the genre shift, it was very much a Borderlands game in every sense: vault hunting, scams, capitalism, guns, and weird humour. New Tales is still funny, but too many jokes overstay their welcome and overall, it just feels a bit rushed. It’s obvious that Gearbox has tried to imitate the pacing and storytelling style of Tales, but instead, we have the introduction of characters who are never really seen again and plot points that end up being loopholes. The narrator in New Tales from the Borderlands introduces the three main characters as idiots and doofuses and he’s not wrong. Our trio of ‘heroes’ might be some of the most annoying protagonists I’ve ever played as, which is a credit to the writing team because that’s exactly how they’re supposed to be.The Jackbox Party Pack 3

You play as each character in rotation and will control various conversations in a group setting. An assassination bot, Lou13, is also present for the majority of the story but you don’t get to play him, which is rather disappointing. Let me introduce these dinguses: there’s Anu—nerdy doctor and anxious, socially inept weirdo—and her younger brother, Octavio, a clout chaser. If TikTok were in the Borderlands universe he would be the most annoying creator on the app. And Fran? Actually, I quite like Fran. She’s self-assured and makes it her mission not to lose her shit at the other two idiots every five seconds. She made a lot of sex jokes that I laughed at, and some I made a shocked Pikachu face at, so I have some complicated feelings about her. New Tales from the Borderlands shares a similar theme to the rest of the series: one mega corp is trying to take over the other, while searching for Vaults and the treasures that lay within. Eridium, easily the most sought-after commodity in Borderlands, can move over in New Tales: it’s healing shard time. Only, there’s an angry entity that lives in the shard who’s been separated from their death-dealing cosmic twin. And did I mention that Tediore has managed to get their hands on it and that the seemingly sentient shard has possessed Anu and nobody knows what to do about it? Yikes. For once, there’s not much focus on the main or supporting character’s backstories, which is quite refreshing. I don’t much care about who these losers were before they turned bomb expert/sniper/taco-stand owner. There’s a fast turnaround of introductions where said characters are only briefly seen again in montages. There are a lot of montages, one per act, and they kinda sucked.

AN EXTRAORDINARY CINEMATIC ADVENTURE.

I would have rather they were playable sequences and, while the songs used in them were good, there wasn’t the usual bombastic use of music to set the scene as in other Borderlands games. Whether it was a budget issue or time constraint, there’s a lot missing from New Tales. All of the episodes are available upfront, so you won’t be waiting months between releases, but you’re definitely still left wanting. In one sequence, Anu and Fran are in a shark tank and Fran is beating up sharks. Only, it’s all a QTE with Octavio narrating and—aside from a quick look at the blood seeping into the tank—you don’t see any of the action. And given that Fran’s whole vibe—should you choose to keep her on the straight and narrow—is “I will not break my anger sobriety”, it was really disappointing to see it all reduced to a behind-the-scenes event. QTEs felt really overused—did I really need a quick-time sequence to slap some cage bars, or as part of a gratuitously overdrawn ‘science experiment’ to see if the healing shard really worked? There are a lot of what could have been really fun moments hidden behind QTEs, and I can’t help but feel that a paced release of each chapter so that more time could be spent on New Tales development would have been the better option. You can fiddle with the difficulty of QTEs in the menu, and failing one doesn’t automatically lead to death or a game over, but it will impact the story in ways that might not be clear until later on. New Tales from the Borderlands is a fun pit stop in the space Western of the Borderlands series.Fall Guys Ultimate Knockout

Much like its predecessor, Telltale Games’ Tales from the Borderlands, this new adventure focuses on an ensemble cast of everyday people, not the superhero-like Vault Hunters of the main series. And in a very similar vein to the first game, New Tales from the Borderlands makes a solid case that the series needs more stories like this one. It’s just more interesting to see normal people navigating Borderlands’ capitalist hellscape of corporate wars as they approach the ludicrous antics and dystopian lawlessness from a more relatable perspective. The normal people in question are altruistic scientist Anu, her younger adopted brother Octavio, and frozen yogurt shop owner Fran. Anu wants to build a device that can end conflicts nonviolently, much to the chagrin of the weapons manufacturer she works for. Octavio desires respect and fame, seeking an idea for a get-rich start-up business. And Fran desires vengeance upon weapons manufacturer Tediore, whose invasion of the planet of Promethea results in the destruction of her shop. Upon learning the invasion is to acquire a Vault Key and open the Promethean Vault, the trio finds themselves working together to acquire the Vault’s treasure before Tediore can claim it, hoping it will be something valuable enough to secure funding for Anu’s research and Octavio’s dreams, while also depriving Tediore of their goal and netting Fran her revenge. Most of New Tales from the Borderlands has you making dialogue choices for Anu, Octavio, or Fran, or performing some feat via a quick-time event. Your choices can have a range of consequences–strengthening the relationship between two characters, for example–but their primary effect is repercussions on the story.

YOUR CHOICES SHAPE THE OUTCOME.

You can’t outright avoid the major narrative beats of each chapter, but you can influence how events transpire to color in your own take on the adventure. Fran is always going to be visited by the insurance agent overseeing her claim of the damage to her shop, for instance, but it’s entirely up to the choices you made leading up to and during that encounter that determine whether she gets that payout, and shapes how the agent perceives her going forward. This structure does mean that New Tales from the Borderlands can occasionally feel too scripted–especially near the end of episodes when the story has to guide you towards an unavoidable outcome to set up the next story beat–but it works for the most part, injecting enough player agency into the story to create tangible change in pretty much every event. Between all the careful decision-making and timed button-pressing, New Tales from the Borderlands opens up into contained areas where you can explore. In these spaces, you can talk to certain characters, scavenge for money to pay for in-game cosmetics, and accomplish optional objectives. Additionally, as Octavio, you can hack into electronics, and as Anu, you can scan important objects or people to learn more about them. There’s not much to these moments beyond solving optional puzzles (like hacking minigames) to accomplish side objectives. They do provide a nice reprieve, though, breaking up the action of the plot to give you a chance to breathe. It helps ensure there are several easily-identifiable moments within each episode where you can pause and take a break if you need or want to. New Tales from the Borderlands opens on a strong note, both in terms of storytelling and humor.

It’s very clear from the outset that Anu, Octavio, and Fran are not Vault Hunters and are some of the most ill-equipped people to be tackling a venture that’s normally handled by women who can bend the fabric of space and time, soldiers who can summon murder mechs, or mutants who can grow stronger by setting themselves on fire. But there’s a goofy appeal to each of the protagonists. You can’t help but root for these underdogs to somehow, some way succeed. Octavio even grew on me. Is he a tad annoying? Absolutely. But there’s a roguish charm to him–I can see why all of his far more competent friends keep him around. He’s like that one idiot goofball who everyone loves to make fun of, but also keeps the group dynamic fresh with the occasional wisecrack and is ready to throw down for you at a moment’s notice. He’s a good guy. And it helps that he has such a strong narrative arc across New Tales from the Borderlands’ five episodes, as do Fran and Anu. New Tales from the Borderlands builds its narrative around the three arcs of its main characters and how they are influencing one another. Anu, for example, abhors violence but finds herself put into more and more situations where violence can be a viable solution for dealing with a problem. Fran, meanwhile, is in the midst of mandatory anger management following a traumatic incident where her rage got the better of her, but the intoxicating feeling of succumbing to her fury regularly encourages her to deal with issues with lethal force. Octavio looks up to the two women equally at the start of the game, and how you shape Anu and Fran can impact how he views the necessity of violence, informing how his narrative arc ultimately plays out.

Those arcs are full of perilous situations where your actions can result in a hefty body count, which can include the main three characters if you’re not too careful. I like the risk of such a system, as it adds a nice narrative weight to every situation. Plus, it encourages me to immediately pick up a game like New Tales from the Borderlands again once the credits roll and see how different decisions can influence the outcome. There are a lot of obvious callbacks to your decisions sprinkled throughout the course of New Tales from the Borderlands’ story, especially during Episodes 1, 2, and 5. A few moments in the final hour of the game made me have to pause the action and take a few seconds to think back on how I’d arrived at the current situation, cursing myself for choices I’d made hours prior. Take a stand against ruthless corporate overlords in this narrative-driven adventure! Within the perpetually war-torn metropolis of Promethea, you’ll control Anu, Octavio, and Fran on the worst day of their lives. Help these three lovable losers as they endeavor to change the world (and maybe even save it)! Face down a planetary invasion, vicious vault monster, and cold-hearted capitalist in this cinematic thrill ride where what happens next is up to you! Meet a motley cast full of misfits, assassin bots, and talking guns in this race to the top! It’s time to fight back against exploitation and corporate greed. It’s time to make Mayhem your business. Decide the fates of altruistic scientist Anu, her ambitious, “streetwise” brother Octavio, and the fierce, frogurt-slinging Fran. With nothing left to lose and everything to gain, you’ll claw and con your way through this thrilling five-part story full of gun-toting goons, otherworldly beasts, and delicious tacos.Darksiders Genesis
