EPIC BATTLE FANTASY 4 Free Download Unfitgirl Following the events of the first three titles in the Epic Battle Fantasy series, which I did not play, a group of three adventurers defeat a big bad one day, and spend their days mucking about the world, causing mischief as nobody would dare stand in the way of the heroes. It’s actually a pretty novel premise, but the proper plot involves those heroes being quickly wrangled into the party of a new main character who is on the hunt for some special rocks which are kept separate to prevent something bad from happening, and the backstory is never really brought up after that. As for the rest of the story and dialog, I could say that it is a dime a dozen JRPG plot with some web based humor thrown in, which it is, but the specific breed of humor honestly struck me as interesting. Not to derail too much, but humor is one of those things that constantly evolves for many different demographics, and it eventually gets too muddled for somebody to even understand why it is funny. I bring this up because I briefly felt like I was playing a game from the middle to late ots while going through EBF 4. Something about its writing really does remind me of that period, and having those jokes and gags be delivered so straightly by something that was made in 2013 actually did manage to peak my interest. That said, I did not find it to be particularly funny, as a lot of people grow out of certain forms of humor after seven years. Patience is also another thing you tend to have a lot of when you are thirteen, and I would probably be a lot more tolerant of this type of JRPG if I still had more free time than I knew what to do with. By ‘this type of JRPG’ I mean one that is not designed around optimizing the player’s enjoyment and is designed around a level of complexity that could be viewed as depth, but I feel that busywork is a far more apt term. For example, equipment management involves sifting through about two hundred unique items that you accumulate as the game goes on, each with their own strengths and benefits, and each with their own list of required materials for upgrades. While this alone is complicated, especially when you consider that there are a total of twenty-nine factors to consider for each piece of equipment in addition to bonus abilities that can be invaluable, but simply finding the materials feels like a chore, as they are dropped from enemy encounters, and you cannot figure out what enemies drop what materials. This vibe of user unfriendliness, and usefulness of a guide continues with the investing in and levelling up abilities.

25 hours of gameplay, plus Newgame+, survival and boss rush modes.

In short, you get abilities that may be used by multiple characters in your party, but if you want to forget and reset these abilities, called Specials, you lose the points you invested into them. This discourages the player from using this mechanic without an outside source that will let them know what is the best for each character, and what will be the most elementally diverse moveset for each character. Even the basic battles can get on my nerves due to enemy waves, basically a row of up to five enemies stacked on top of each other. I am actually in favor of this idea, but the fact that if you defeat the final enemy in a wave with your third character allows the entire wave of enemies attack your party soured me on this idea. Instead, it is better to just barely leave one foe standing and have the third character defend while either character number one or a random equipment based attack defeat them. You may notice that I flip flopped right there about the number of characters, and that’s because you can only use three characters at a time, and the fourth is a backup character who unintentionally feels like a last resort that you will never want to use. As such, it falls in with summons, which are powered by their own meter, as something that suffer from the Kao the Kangaroo

‘I May Need That Later’ principle that discourages players from making use of what they have. Limit Breaks follow the same principle and as such I only ever sued them during boss battles, partially due to how they take quite some time to fill up. I also only ever used revival items, and never touched my normal healing items as you heal automatically after battle… sort of. You slowly regenerate HP and MP, but if you save, and you can save anywhere, and quit, your HP and MP will be full. It is a minor annoyance, but when you do it after every battle, I only began shaking my head in confusion over how the Matt Roszak didn’t see how people would abuse this. Though still definitely a bit immature in places, Epic Battle Fantasy 4 is… somewhat more restrained than its predecessors. It leans more towards depth of combat than depth of story, and fans of strategy over grinding will relish the amount of factors that can come into play to make an impossible fight merely a difficult one. It’s not drastically different from the older games visually, but gosh it’s all shiny and polished! Epic Battle Fantasy 4 is one of those games where you can really feel all the effort that’s gone into it, even if you haven’t played the other titles, and the result is a game that sets a high standard for Flash titles.

Suitable for both casual and hardcore RPG players.

If you don’t like cheesecake, some immature humour, or RPGs that put their focus more on combat than anything else, you might want to take this one with a grain of salt. For fans, however, and players looking for something rich in colour and quirk with more strategy than you typically expect from a turn-based RPG, this is one great treat. Kupo707 is a developer with talent and passion to burn, and Epic Battle Fantasy 4 is weirder and wonderful-er than ever before. Everything in the game can be controlled with the mouse, clicking to move, select, and interact, or you can enable old fashioned keyboard controls under the options. On the main map, you can wander around freely, chatting with characters to gain information or quests, and of course continue the time-honoured tradition of rooting through other people’s personal belongings for treasure. You can see enemies on the map, and interacting with them will initiate battle, which is turn-based, so take your time and think out your strategies. Like any RPG, leveling up and buying better equipment is important, but will only get you so far. Epic Battle Fantasy 4 wants you to pay attention to a variety of factors, like specific strengths and weaknesses, turning battles into more strategic affairs than you might expect. Karryn’s Prison

Since you can save manually outside of fights whenever you like, you’ll want to take advantage of that. As you take down enemies, you’ll also gain ingredients you can use to upgrade your characters’ arms and armor by clicking the “Forge” icon, so keep an eye on your supplies! Each battle earns you Ability Points your characters share as a pool that you can spend on upgrading each person’s abilities and spells, or learning new ones too. While its style is distinctly western, in everything but art Epic Battle Fantasy is very much a JRPG. The combat is heavily based on elemental advantage/weaknesses – brute force is rarely an option in harder battles, instead the key to victory is using correct skills and gear. Speaking of gear, uniquely among RPGs, newer weapons and armor you acquire are not direct improvement of your old equipment. Instead, each weapon and armor has properties that make it good in some situations and mediocre to bad in others. The result is that no equipment becomes useless, and some of early gear may very much be an option for endgame battles.

This game is a funny joking, breaking the forth wall, RPG. It’s all good fun in the world of EBF4, with jokes coming left and right, and all being masterfully crafted so that none fall flat you won’t stop laughing. Enough about how funny the game is, let’s talk about gameplay, the game focuses on the goal of collection and completion rather than harsh and numerous battles, the creator has also made it so that character’s not battling will also gain experience so that you won’t have to grind for any other character at a later time. The collection will included things such as: chest locations, random drops for armor and weapon upgrades, those weapons and armor themselves, certain creatures to fill that damn bestiary, ect. All battles are fair and equal as long as you do a little side searching here and there to gain a little extra exp. Jokes, fair battles, and no grinding sounds like a good game to me. Gameplay is a simplistic RPG style view, with turn based combat for the fights. Controls are so simple; you literally can play the whole game with just your mouse. The game has a real “Pokémon” feel to it, as you explore you will find parts of the map you can’t explore yet because you don’t have the required skill, for instance, to cut a tree down or to smash a rock.

Once you learn said skills, you can backtrack quite easily to explore and find treasure hidden in the previously locked area. The game has well over a hundred different enemies to kill, and learn their strengths and weaknesses of. My favourite part of the game play is easily the loot and item system. The game boasts over 170 different items for your characters to use; you can upgrade these items through using the Forging mechanic which require you to use craft-able items to make the upgrade. The combat system is really well designed too; you have a party of four characters eventually, but you can only use three in a battle, the fourth acts as a backup in case one of your others dies. The Pokémon element theme is a key mechanic too; making sure you use the correct weapon with the right effect on the enemy is an almost absolute must most of the time. Characters can also learn “companions” which acts as like “ultimate” attacks, and any of your characters can use them rather than having them bound to one of your party – the best and most fun by a country mile has to be the Super Nova, which just obliterates the entire screen. Visually, EBF4 is again, simple, but that comes across very pleasantly.

The in game art style looks colourful and vibrant, and has a very 3DS look to it. The narration parts of the game are done in a beautifully, almost hand drawn style of art, as if they have just been pulled out of a children’s book. I was enchanted by the visuals straight away as soon as I saw this. There is little animation in the game, given the 2D aspect, but the small amount of animation in the game is done really well, no odd movement cycles or strange looking attacks. There isn’t any voice acting; however there aren’t walls and walls of text to read through, so that can be forgiven. EBF4’s difficulty levels can be changed on the fly, and you are almost encouraged to play on the highest difficulty until you start hitting a brick wall. I played the game on a normal difficulty and still felt sufficiently challenged by the fights. You can ramp up the difficulty to epic mode for those wanting to get extra achievements though. Once you complete the game you have the option for New Game+. Not to mention the Fire Mountain area of the game. This area scales with your characters level, allowing you to take on unique beasty bosses for extra special loot. This for me again, reminded me of the Pokémon games and the Elite Four trainers.
