Customizability of the battles is actually pretty neat, right down to specific ways in how the AI behaves. You might actually want to turn a few of the settings down at first, they start out being surprisingly ruthless; spot you from a mile away and land shots with aplomb. The overall level of chaos when teams meet in the middle of a cramped map like Iwo Jima feels surprisingly appropriate, with people running in, shooting and dying left and right. You do get the perception of being in the midst of a battlefield, something I always appreciate in games like these (actually better than Ravenfield in my POV). The included maps all feel quite different from each other and are down to earth enough to be believable. Stalingrad is a favorite of mine. The optimization has been improved by post-launch updates, but I’ll still call it a downside, albeit more minor. I still haven’t managed to hit 120fps when this monitor and rig can easily get to 240 in Doom, so don’t expect to be playing it in high framerates. My rig is an 8700k and an RTX2080, and the most I can hit in terms of bots is around 48v48 on maps before I start going below playable (60fps). Firmament

To the point where individual soldiers might stand still for several seconds. It’s really weird spawning in a 128v128 game at 5fps, and watching all the bots move out, four at a time. An uninformed player might think the AI is crap because the game actually recommends you to turn down the CPU time. More of a “needs to be explained more thoroughly” thing, but it could also be fixed by improving the optimization again. Sometimes said AI acts in really weird ways. They clearly follow paths baked into the map instead of taking more freeform routes, I had a couple of times where I was charged by six Germans holding knives in the middle of a field, and some kinds of troops like flamethrowers don’t really seem to care about friendly fire. The art style is great, the idea is great, the execution has a few issues but overall I love the effort behind it. I’m sure people can find a lot of things in the game but since I don’t see myself spending too much time on it I gotta refund it. A few issues I noticed are lack of HUD during vehicles, making it difficult to see my vehicle health, lack of minimap which should be something fundamental in such game, and one other thing, when pausing while ingame, i accidentally clicked on “tutorial” and without a warning popup menu, it immediately loaded the tutorial making me lose the match I was in.
