Hitman 3 PS5 Free Download Unfitgirl It’s almost impossible to review Hitman 3 as a standalone game. While this brooding conclusion to Danish developer IO Interactive’s excellent World of Assassination trilogy can be purchased individually, it’s intended to be enjoyed as a compilation: a collection of sublime stealth sandboxes spanning a glamorous red carpet event in Paris all the way through to a seedy underground rave in Berlin. All of the locations from Hitman: The Complete First Season and Hitman 2 can be imported into the threequel for free, culminating in hundreds upon hundreds of hours of entertaining espionage and, if you’re successful at it, assassination. As it’s effectively one-third of a larger overall experience, this latest instalment does little to reinvent the rules that the Freedom Fighters maker has been writing for half-a-decade now. Levels like Dubai in the United Arab Emirates are roomy and intricate, but they are not open world; they’re large, layered playgrounds for you to explore and master, observing all of the patterns that occur within them in order to fashion opportunities. There’s no correct way to achieve your objectives, but there’s certainly a wrong way: the beauty is in not getting caught. This is a darker and marginally more cinematic experience than Hitman 2, with the paper-thin plot from the previous two titles reaching its conclusion. While the first game’s narrative was practically incomprehensible, the second game saw Agent 47 reunited with his childhood friend Lucas Grey, with the pair embarking on a mission to bring down the shady Illuminati-esque organisation, Providence. Due to the way the game’s designed, the characters tend to take a backseat, but there’s just enough meat on the narrative’s bones to send gaming’s sneakiest skinhead around the globe. Events in the story do make for some interesting encounters, however. With the aforementioned assassin turned against his former employers the ICA, there’s a brilliant mission in Germany where you’re given the objective of taking down your ex-colleagues. Of course, because they all have the same skillset as Agent 47, that means they’re hiding in plain sight, so you must navigate an industrial nightclub in the capital city analysing the behaviour of its hundreds of guests, trying to figure out who exactly your targets are. It’s a stunning twist on the series’ established rules. In fact, whether it’s Mendoza in Argentina or Chongqing in China, each level brings an interesting variable to the table. This is perhaps best observed in Dartmoor, a rural part of south-west England famous for its National Park. It’s here that you’re tasked with eliminating Providence partner Alexa Carlisle, but there’s much more to this towering stately home than first appears. While the overarching storyline may not be anything to write home about, IO Interactive weaves dozens of tiny little plotlines into each location to truly bring them to life. So, when you arrive in the UK, you learn that your target has recently faked her own death, and her family has come home for the “funeral”. However, in the events prior to Agent 47’s infiltration, there’s been a murder at the house and the Carlisles have hired a private investigator to get to the bottom of it. You can, of course, subdue the detective and solve the mystery for yourself, which unlocks unique assassination opportunities for you. Alternatively, you can storm Alexa’s office and drop an ostentatious art-deco chandelier on her head – it’s up to you.

While you’ll be able to see through the six new locations once in around ten hours, the beauty of the franchise is replaying each stage until you’ve seen all of the possible permutations and succeeded in Master difficulty without ever being detected and without ever changing your clothes. As you learn more about each level, you begin to discover how all of the systems slot together, with every single NPC on the map following a routine that exists for you to manipulate. Every item – excluding the controversial ICA Electrocution Phone from Hitman 2 – is available to you if you import your previous progress, so there’s effectively an infinite number of approaches you can adopt. With so much of the experience designed around repetition, the addition of permanent shortcuts feels like a smart one. You’ll find these specially marked doors dotted sporadically around the new maps, and once opened they remain unlocked through subsequent playthroughs. This means that you’re able to reach key areas quicker, and it presents plenty of speed running potential. The other major new addition, Agent 47’s camera, doubles as a kind of high-tech scanner, although there are occasions where you’ll need to photograph evidence in order to present it to certain characters. The game as a whole looks stunning on the PlayStation 5, running at a slick 60 frames-per-second with some seriously impressive reflections. IO Interactive really flexes its engine at times, like when you arrive in Dubai on the outside of a sky-scraper, or when you walk through the rain-slicked streets of a neon-lit Chongqing. There’s so much packed into each and every location, too: there are hidden passages within the Dartmoor estate’s walls, while China harbours an ethically questionable, Cyberpunk 2077-esque mind manipulation lab. Fashioning opportunities to get up close and personal with your villainous targets is such a huge part of the fun, and while they are pantomime-like caricatures, the writing team gives them just enough dialogue to expose their insecurities and examine what makes them tick. It’s not going to win any awards for its script, but despite the overall tone of this instalment generally being darker, there’s still a ton of humour buried within the game that will make you laugh out loud. The studio’s ability to pair such intense, heart-pounding stealth gameplay with outright nonsense is to be admired. Our only real criticism of Hitman 3 is that, in needing to account for the fact that not every player will own the entire trilogy, a lot of the gear that you’ll unlock in the six new stages serve as duplicates for items you’ll already have earned in the previous two titles. We’d have liked to have seen a few more truly unique inventory inclusions, especially when you consider that this brings all three titles together; the more gadgets the better, as they’re able to breathe new life into the older environments as well. It’s a nit-pick, but one we felt was worth mentioning. On its own, Hitman 3 is a moody conclusion to a generation-defining trilogy, but when taken as a complete compilation, it’s the ultimate stealth sandbox. IO Interactive has honed its gameplay formula to perfection, and it’s on top form here, designing missions like Dartmoor where you can lose yourself for hours solving a murder mystery that’s largely separate to the events of the core game. The process of puzzling out each level, deconstructing it, and then executing the perfect Silent Assassin run is some of the most fun you can have on PS5 right now – don’t miss this victory lap from one of gaming’s best franchises.Agent 47’s unique brand of slow-paced stealth in an assortment of dense, deadly, and deeply varied murder playgrounds has reached a wonderful crescendo in Hitman 3. While it doesn’t stray from the killer chord combination developer IO Interactive crafted for 2016’s Hitman – and continued to use in 2018’s Hitman 2 – it’s abundantly clear here that the studio has well and truly mastered its act.

With some of the most surprising and imaginative levels in the series so far, Hitman 3 may feel largely familiar to its two most-recent predecessors, but just thinking of the hours upon hours of chaos, carnage, and cruel comedy that each of its six outstanding new maps will produce makes me giddy. This final chapter of IO’s ‘World of Assassination’ trilogy that began with 2016’s Hitman might be better thought of as an expansion than a sequel. If you’ve bounced off Hitman before – particularly in the last five years – know that there’s been no big reinvention of the bald bloke’s blueprint in Hitman 3. The interface and controls have remained consistent in their stiffness, and the range of uses for your weapons and items aren’t drastically different, either. The most notable new toy in Hitman 3 is a camera which can be used to hack or examine switches and items, which is handy but not really a game changer. All six of Hitman 3’s beautiful and strikingly well-lit levels are amongst the strongest of the series, so much so that it’s hard to pick a standout favourite. The true strength of Hitman 3, then, is found in its maps. All six of Hitman 3’s beautiful and strikingly well-lit levels are amongst the strongest of the series, so much so that it’s hard to pick a standout favourite. Things get off to a fairly stunning start, with 47 parachuting onto the world’s tallest building in Dubai and infiltrating its opulent interior, but that high bar is maintained throughout. The follow-up mission is a nod and a wink to Contracts’ Beldingford Manor map and takes 47 to a similarly massive UK country manor where one entertainingly ironic route to killing your target involves posing as a detective who’s there to solve a murder on the property. From there it’s off to a massive German rave for a mission that oozes atmosphere and puts an interesting twist on hunting down your five targets amongst the throngs of sweaty, 24-hour party people, and then to Chongqing, China, where the glow of neon lights, the reflections in the soaked streets, and the trickle of rain down 47’s jacket combine for perhaps the most visually impressive mission of the series so far. The next stop is an Argentinian vineyard that reminded me of Blood Money’s excellent A Vintage Year map, only vastly bigger; then the finale is a fabulous surprise unlike any Hitman mission to date, and one which I sincerely hope isn’t spoiled for you. It’s tricky to speak about these locations in too much detail without ruining the thrill of strolling through them and revealing massive new areas you had no idea existed, but these environments are truly some of the most memorable and remarkable maps IO has ever created – from the intimidating verticality on display while perched on the outside of the highest skyscraper in the world to the rustic charm of Thornbridge Manor. I’m equally hesitant to reveal the quirky assassination opportunities they contain but I will say Hitman 3 contains both the funniest and the most complex Hitman kill I’ve ever played – and at least one of the most-dastardly – and there are still many I haven’t got to yet. Yes, a lot of the kills are gentle remixes of ones that have come before, but they’re still cleverly built up.As always, the slow-burn thrill of these games comes from planning, patience, and hiding in plain sight. The key to success is finding the perfect disguise for exploration, listening and looking for opportunities, and getting the timing just right to pull off the perfect crime and escape unseen.

It’s an unapologetically single-player experience that rewards rational thinking over rushing, although it is flexible enough to cater to both extremes: those who prefer to follow the multilayered mini-stories playing out within the levels to make invisible, surgical strikes and disappear without a trace, and those who like to improvise and leave behind piles of dead and unconscious men in their underpants stacked like cordwood. You can get away with all of this because the often hilariously naïve AI is still easy to exploit as ever. Of course, tricking the dopey guards and civilians with unexpected distractions and suspicious items has emerged as such a fundamental part of the puzzle solving in the current Hitman trilogy, and I’ve actually grown to love these dumb bastards over the years. These folks won’t even blink an eye at a severe-faced stranger who’s wearing the clothes of a man they’ve very recently had a conversation with and, while that does rob stealthy victories of believability at times, this kind of suspension of disbelief is simply necessary for Hitman to function. As grim as the murder-for-hire premise seems on the surface, this has always been a cheekily self-aware series that relishes in a general degree of silliness and gallows humour.

The biggest advantage of there not being any revolutionary changes in Hitman 3 is that owners of Hitman and Hitman 2 can carry over their levels and progress to Hitman 3. There’s a certain tidiness to rolling the trilogy into a single product that I really like, and I admire IO’s commitment to keeping the previous games’ content alive like this. On Xbox Series X this is mostly seamless; as an owner of both previous Hitman games on Xbox One, Hitman 3 was automatically augmented with all previous maps, although the progression carry-over functionality wasn’t operational for me at the time of review. The PC situation is hindered somewhat by the shift from Steam to the Epic Games Store, though IO Interactive has gone on the record that an import feature will be available within weeks. Sniper Ghost Warrior 2

It’s also proven to be a little unruly on PlayStation 5. Despite having both previous games installed, Hitman 3 is directing me to further downloads to allow access – neither of which are available at time of review. The lack of native support for PSVR on PS5 also meant I had to download and install the PS4 version of Hitman 3 alongside the PS5 version, which is a bit of a messy solution – but that’s really on Sony rather than IO. For its part, IO provides a free digital copy of the PS4 version to all who buy the PS5 version so nobody misses out. When you get it up and running, Hitman in VR is worth a dabble if you own a PSVR, though really only to experience its general slapstick goofiness first-hand. You have to play with the DualShock 4 because the Move controllers just don’t have enough buttons and, while it can generally handle melee attacks, the shooting experience is really quite cumbersome, imprecise, and irritating as a consequence. The end result is a system that winds up marooned halfway between full motion controls and traditional controls – which I found regularly brain-bending and occasionally stomach churning. There’s no denying that getting access to all of Hitman and Hitman 2’s levels in VR is incredible value – and it’s a novelty feeling as if you’re truly inside these levels – but it’s janky, primitive, and really not the best way to play.

Note: This game will only run on consoles with the original firmware that are connected to the PSN online account and purchased the game from PSN.
