Guts and Glory Free Download Unfitgirl Every so often, we get sent a game that we’ve never heard of. In the case of games like Guts and Glory this particular reviewer does a quick web search. On the strength of the few images, we’ll sometimes take a punt on an outlier like Guts and Glory. Sometimes it pays off as it did with the superb Death Road To Canada, other times you end up with a game that you regret ever having started. We’re sad to report that Guts and Glory falls into the latter category. The image of a man riding a bike giving someone a backie was enough to pique our interest. But within ten minutes of starting to play, it was clear we’d made a terrible terrible mistake. On the face of it Guts and Glory is an indie game by a first time dev. That in itself usually wouldn’t present a problem, but it is evident this is a game in thrall to the likes of Twitch and YouTube streamers and a host of Kickstarter backers from r/gaming. The second isn’t the problem, it’s the former. No doubt this game makes for great commentary as you play, but sadly there’s not much in the way of game otherwise. Our man HakJak has used Unity in conjunction with a host of generic and community sourced 3D model assets. Unfitgirl.COM SEXY GAMES

The placeholder models from the Kickstarter gifs have made their way into this, the full release game. This gives the game a rather plain look but that’s not the main problem. It’s the gameplay that’s the issue. It generally follows the same template each time. You have to make your way, via a series of checkpoints, to a goal on a rickety physics-modelled vehicle, be it a bicycle or a family car. Or even a rocket propelled lawn chair. This isn’t as much fun as it sounds. It even had a glitchy trophy that didn’t unlock when we fulfilled the criteria of finishing a course using it. Score! If it were just a point to point racer, we could get past that. When obstacles designed to maim and injure you come into the equation that it all starts to unravel. One early level features an innocuous enough suburban road. Only there’s landmines to avoid. Okay, so far so explosive. These in conjunction with unerringly accurate dodgeball cannons that prove immediately fatal make for an incredibly frustrating section. You can’t tell you’ve been targeted by a cannon until it’s too late and your character model has been turned into so much chum. You feel compelled to retry over and over again.

Manual driver ejection

It was at this point that we unlocked our first and only trophy, a shiny turd as it happened. But still we persevered despite all this. Another level introduces spinning blades that also prove immediately fatal upon contact with them. The imprecise controls make themselves known at this point. Maybe they work better with a mouse and keyboard. But for us at least, they really didn’t lend themselves to precisely maneuvering through various deathtraps. Yet more deaths ensued and we sacked off another level to try another. There are eight groups of levels to play through, but by the time we explored the extra levels we didn’t want to play more. As a reviewer this doesn’t sit well with us, but there’s no fun to be had here. The music is plinky MIDI styled stuff, very much a throwback to days of yore when we played our games on a EGA display on a 286 with a Gravis joystick (look it up, kids). In evoking nostalgia for those days, it’s probably not achieving what it set out to do. It’s entirely possible this game has sailed wide of the mark for us, as we’re not millennial Twitch streamers with subscribers and viewers to appease. It’s probably hilarious if you’re fourteen, just not forty four. We like to play games for fun, but Guts and Glory leaves little more than a bad taste in our mouths and a trophy list ghost we’re never likely to revisit. Thief Simulator VR

There’s nothing quite like a peaceful bike ride through the local park. The sun is shining. The birds are singing in the trees. The buzzsaws are whirring. Wait? Buzzsaws?! Oh dear, you’ve just been decapitated and delimbed by a series of deadly blades bouncing down a hill. Maybe not so peaceful, then… This is the world of Guts and Glory, a physics-based pain simulator that tasks you with guiding a hapless character (or duo) through a variety of seemingly peaceful settings that just happen to be laden with arrow-flinging turrets, saws and landmines. It’s crude, it’s gory and it’s totally throw-away in its ultraviolent slapstick, but that’s just part of its low-rent charm. Much like Getting Over It (the PC-based hit that did the rounds on Twitch for a while, inducing rage with its physics-driven ‘man climbing a mountain while a sledgehammer’ premise), Guts and Glory is all about seeking that satisfying sweet spot between avoiding obstacles, staying on your vehicle and pulling off a leaderboard-topping time. You’ll almost certainly mess up, and almost certainly turn the air seven shades of blue, but you’ll still be having a laugh in between all those involuntary swears. The bloody fun is broken up into nine sets of challenges, each tied together by one or more of the game’s hapless characters. These victims range from Jack and Jill (an old man riding a BMX with a lady riding passenger in a cart tied to the back, obviously)

70+ Official Tracks by HakJak

Each comes with their own strengths and weaknesses, making them better suited to certain challenges than others. The Yang Family, with their open-top sedan, offer a more stable vehicle, but it’s unwieldy to control, especially when cornering. John and Debra (a couple on a bicycle, with the letter member of the duo strapped into a baby seat on the back) offer the most all-around setup, but it’s easy to lose your balance and feels back-heavy when making jumps. If you’re expecting the balanced two-wheeled rides of the Trials series – a franchise that’s clearly had a big impact on Guts and Glory’s obstacle-course nature – you’re in for a rude awakening. Let’s be honest, this game isn’t going to win any awards for its looks – but you soon realise that’s kind of the point. The ugly character models and environments that look like they’re straight out of a crude mid-’90s foray into 3D animation are part of the game’s purposeful low-fi aesthetic. However, when your poor character gets diced by a set of buzzsaws and their blood turns into giant, solid shards of red TOGETHER BnB

You know there’s clearly a few glitches that need patching out as well. There are some technical issues that are hard to chalk up to conscious design choices, though. There’s a little too much slowdown at times, which can really impact on the more complicated challenges where you’re dodging landmines and leaping off ramps one after another. It doesn’t impact every run, but it’s frustrating enough when it does happen – the drop in frames can really affect your enjoyment. The loading times between retries is also another issue. It simply takes far too long to refresh the game. It’s likely an issue to do with the size of each map – you can explore each one in real time, but we’d much rather have smaller, more linear maps (and have shorter loading times as a result) than sandbox designs that lead to protracted loading times. It’s an issue that takes you out of the moment-to-moment fun that makes Guts and Glory such a great little indie outing. The Switch version is also missing one of the best features found on PC – the map editor. It’s this omission that makes the handheld iteration such a hard sell over the one found on Steam, because it doesn’t boast the kind of mode that will keep you coming back for more.

Lots of settings and control customization options

Being able to construct insanely difficult challenges would tie right into that same sense of community-driven longevity that’s made the likes of Super Mario Maker so timeless, but without it (and the 1,000-plus fan-made tracks you can currently play on PC) Guts and Glory remains a diminished and hollow version of itself.Which is a shame, because there’s so much to love about Guts and Glory’s combination of slapstick silliness and physics-driven gore. HakJak Productions has promised it’s working on a solution to the frame rate issues and texture issues, but considering Switch’s technical limitations almost certainly led to the removal of the map editor, you’re probably better off picking this up on PC for the foreseeable future.A few years ago, some indie developers quickly realized there was an opportunity at free advertising in the form of YouTube Let’s Play personalities. Quality of the product became secondary to its marketability, resulting in both intended and unintended glitches and errors that streamers would routinely mock in their quest for more clicks. A perfect example of this phenomenon is Guts and Glory, an Early Access title that achieved notoriety a few years ago from being showcased on some of YouTube’s most popular streaming channels. The official release on Steam was back in January, and now it’s made it way on the Switch thanks to tinyBuild. Tokyo School Life

It’s likely this intentionally bad game may be fun playing on Steam, but some unintended problems with the port make this version virtually unplayable. Get from point A to point B, it’s that simple. The hard part is staying alive, as a wide assortment of mines, buzzsaws, ball cannons, and all sorts of devious contraptions meant to brutally murder you are in the way. Getting to the finish line doesn’t feel all that satisfying since most tracks really aren’t all that difficult. The entertainment value is coming up with new and innovative ways to get chopped, impaled, or exploded. Or it would be if the frames per second didn’t hit single digits, or in many cases completely skip. In one particular instance, a chain reaction of detonating mines resulted in a stutter so bad that my character went from enjoying a leisurely bike ride down a hill to lying on the ground with my intestines hanging out, with only a few frozen frames in between. Don’t get me wrong, crashing an ATV off of a monster jump into a pool of mines is fun, and maybe you’re willing to put up with severe frame rate issues to do so. But what you’re not likely willing to endure is a not insignificant wait between deaths. A excruciatingly long 10 second load time between respawns completely saps the enjoyment out of finding new ways to maim your character.

Guts and Glory isn’t the first, and won’t be the last title that lost its playability being ported to the Switch (WWE 2K18 comes to mind). It’s another example of all ports not being equal as developers still struggle to discover all of the ins and out of the porting process. If getting sliced in half or impaled by a buzzsaw is a can’t miss experience, I would recommend looking at another platform to play it on.o, this game is an absolute death trap. It’s your job to make it across different types of terrain and the air by safely passing through checkpoints en route to the finish. But it’s not a simple case of driving from A to B; you’ll be trying to do this while dealing with circular saws, cannonballs, spikes and other ridiculously impassable obstructions. Gameplay is all about reaching the end goal in as short a time as possible, but the entertainment comes in the violence that takes place along the way. Part of the comedy comes from the game’s characters, and how intentionally difficult it is to control them. From Zoe the stunt bike rider, Junior and his hovering skateboard, pensioners Jack and Jill in their bike and trailer cart combination (Jill will immediately fall out at any inkling of a pacey turn from Jack) to hillbilly Earl and his quad bike. Doing so much as brushing against any of the game’s hazards will either result in an instant violent death or losing at least a limb
