Until You Fall Free Download Unfitgirl I originally played Until You Fall during early access on Stream. The game felt great at that time, and I must say it has only continued to improve after leaving early access in Oct 2020. Between the gameplay, graphics, environment, and soundtrack, this game does so many things right. Even if it still has a few issues. This is our Until You Fall review. The game has you take on the role of the last Rune Knight, being helped by the Runesmith. Your goal is to fight your way towards the fallen city of Rokar to destroy whatever has caused the city’s destruction. It is a simple plot but compelling once you fight your way through to the first boss encounter. Being a VR game helps here. I found myself more invested in the story with each battle since VR immerses you so much in the world. When starting the game, there are several accessibility options you can set to help with issues like the chance of motion sickness and selecting if you are standing or seated. It was nice to see the different options and how customizable they are in the menu. The gameplay difficulty is set in-game at the forge. There are three crystals to choose from, and then you crush one to make the selection. Being the total badass that I am, I went with Relaxed play, giving me a health crystal back after each area I cleared. Other difficulties award more Aether while making the enemies faster to attach. If you find a difficulty setting not to your liking, it can be changed the next time you return to the forge. Unfitgirl.COM SEXY GAMES

Progressing through the game is simple. You enter an area with X number of enemies and fight until the area is cleared, then select from one of three rewards before moving on to the next fight. Rewards are randomized each playthrough and include things like an extra health crystal, heal up to 5 crystals, adding abilities/mods to your weapons, more combo swings, and Aether. When you die, your character returns to the forge, where you can spend collected Aether on permanent upgrades. You lose any other rewards from the run. As you work your way closer to the city, more weapons will become available to unlock. Aether is used to unlock each weapon and then to upgrade their ranks individually. Each weapon has different traits you can see by holding your character’s palm face up and pulling the trigger. They also have different physical properties. For example, the ax swings slower, making it tough to block when compared to a sword, while some weapons you cannot block with at all. These weapons provide other bonuses instead too your other chosen weapon. I found all the weapons to be well designed. While I didn’t necessarily enjoy using each one, they were all interesting to test out. I keep finding myself swapping up weapons to try out different playstyles. Some combinations compliment my playstyle much better than others.

IF AT FIRST YOU DON’T SUCCEED

The combat in this game is fast-paced and fun. It gets you moving, and if you are like me, out of shape, you will be sore after an hour of play. You start slowly enough, but after a short tutorial, it quickly picks up pace once the basics are out of the way. Fighting multiple enemies at the same time will require you to think about where you are standing and if anything is trying to flank you. Players also need to move weapons quickly into multiple block positions. Depending on the enemy, the attacks can come at you fast. When it comes to larger enemies and bosses, you will also need to duck and dodge, avoiding unblocked attacks. The game easily gives me a decent workout. Supporting the combat is a high-energy soundtrack. While some may find that a synthwave soundtrack doesn’t fit well in a fantasy setting, I found the color palette that the developers have chosen helps it feel at home. Also, once you get into a rhythm of moving from fight to fight, the music really keeps you going The environment is colorful and almost an assault on the senses. It amplifies that feeling of something strange had happened in the area. While I wouldn’t want to see it in most of my fantasy-style games, it is OK for a change of pace in this one. If the other parts of the game didn’t compliment each other so well, I am not sure it would have worked. DOOM II (Classic) Switch NSP

I have only noticed a few minor problems with the game at this point. For those who find roguelike games to be repetitive, you will still find that here as well. Each playthrough does have quite a bit of variability with randomized rewards, enemy placements, and area layout. You are ultimately still making your way from one fight to the next in the same environment, and each area layout is quite similar except for the boss fights. On the technical side, I had only two issues. First, playing on a Quest 2 and connecting to Stream VR via WIFI, I noticed that the controller tracking was a touch off in certain fights. Nothing that caused me to die. But every once in a while, one of my weapons would be out of place for just a moment. Second, there seems to be a strobe-like flickering when loading between areas, which was not present during early access. Until You Fall is an excellent VR game. While it has a few minor issues, the entire package comes together to create a great brawler. On top of which players will get a bit of exercise out of it at the same time. The game keeps you coming back for more, and I can see myself playing it well into the future. Even though it may feel a bit repetitive at times, it is one of those repetitive experiences that you can lean into and enjoy. If you are into VR and enjoy fantasy-style weapon combat, make sure to pick this one up.

DIE, DIE AGAIN

Until You Fall is purely concerned with sword fighting, getting in close, unleashing a volley of blows for maximum damage then quickly moving on. Unlike other popular VR sword-wielding titles Until You Fall isn’t really concerned with highly realistic physics and overly long back and forth fights, this is arcade gameplay in its raw form. But that’s not to say the gameplay is about wildly swinging your arms around until the opponent crumbles to the floor as all you’ll do is open yourself up to attacks, die, and then find out you’re right back at the start. As mentioned this is a procedurally generated videogame, which means each time you play – or run through – will be slightly different. You’ll still get the same enemies and environment style but they’ll be switched around so there’s little forward strategy. Meaning most decisions are made on the fly, quickly assessing how many enemies are in your way or their particular type – and therefore style – all nicely adding that sense of excitement going into battle. There are a number of VR videogames which use this ever-changing method to great effect, the recent In Death: Unchained being one of them. However, with that title the world was expansive and you could freely wander around choosing whatever path you liked. With Until You Fall each area is essentially a mini-arena, one way in and one way out, so you’ve got no choice in the direction you want to go. DOOM 1 (1993) Switch NSP

You either make it through the gauntlet or you don’t. It one of the few gripes about the experience. Because the rest of it is exhilarating, exhausting fun. The first couple of runs didn’t instantly impress, with the gameplay coming across as repetitive and quite constrained. Yet with each death and restart the process started to become quite addictive, mainly due to the harder boss characters providing the sort of challenge that all gamers relish. Dropped into the visually striking world of Rokar, Until You Fall places two weapons in your hands which magically appear and disappear when holding the grip button so there’s no inventory or hip/chest/back mounted attachments to concern yourself with. This is a brute force style of videogame so there’s a dash mechanic to launch straight into an opponent to deal early damage, after which it’s all about wearing down their armour to unlock the ability to deal critical hits. This first phase provides the classic sword-fighting duel, quickly blocking an enemy’s attacks indicated with blue slashes, really making you work for the win. Once the critical hits are unlocked these act in a similar fashion where you have to attack in a certain direction for maximum damage, indicated by an orange slash. It is formulaic but once you get into the swing of it becomes very satisfying dealing with the tougher bosses.

IT’S JUST ANOTHER DAY

Then once the area is cleared you get three perks to select from, these can be regaining health, extra critical hits, weapon enhancements, another health slot and so on. They’re always randomised so if you’ve been particularly battered one round you may not be able to get your health back for the next. Plus, should you die then all the perks are lost apart from the Aether which can be used to add permanent upgrades. That’s right, dying can actually be beneficial in Until You Fall. The hub is where difficulty settings can be changed and more importantly, weapons swapped and improved. The small starting blade is fast and nimble but doesn’t do a massive amount of damage, unlocking the axe will get through an enemy’s guard but is far more cumbersome. There’s even a testing dummy to practice on before heading back to Rokar. What’s most impressive about Until You Fall is the level of polish and smoothness of each encounter. From little details like your weapons clinking together – rather than glitching through – to the way combat is methodical and completely engaging, it’s one of the best examples in VR. So much so that you need to make sure you’ve got ample space, Until You Fall is one of those titles where you’ll quite easily hit a real-life object – even with Guardian on – because you’re so heavily engrossed. Games like Robo Recall and Superhot VR have absolutely turned this hobby on its head for me. Having to relearn nearly every single facet of my training since the ’80s is a bit insane, as the more intense VR experiences have challenged me in ways no game of the last several decades ever has. For the aforementioned duo above, a certain degree of 360-degree situational awareness is key. Until You Fall toys with that very same concept, but also adds in a degree of physical fitness and stamina. The short of it: Until You Fall is a roguelike built around medieval weapons, in which you need to progress through stages (filled with enemies) until you eventually reach the final boss. It’s filled to the brim with “roguelite” elements too, like permanent upgrades that will eventually ease you into overcoming obstacles through sheer force of will. Of course, you can also just play really well and circumvent a lot of that fiddliness. Although there is a story (you’re saving the realm), it’s mostly in the peripheral with the focus on frenetic hand-to-hand combat. As a knight, you’ll start out with a sword in your dominant hand and a dagger in the other, as you block, strike, and dash your way to victory (with as little or as much VR vision training wheels as you’d like, depending on your motion sickness tolerance). Dashing (which doubles as an escape or a dive attack) is governed by a meter, which refills over time.

Other than that, your job is to slice and block to remove enemy guard meters: which in turn will open them up for wide slices (the wider the better, damage-wise). This creates an interesting dance where you can’t just blindly swing like you’re chopping up dinner, as you’ll need to stop and carefully position your blades within the block lines to parry. This in turn chips away their meter and creates a nice little rumble feedback effect. It’s fun from the tutorial on, but once I really started to dig in and come across some of the minibosses (which required rapid blocking, or actual real-life dodging), I was enthralled. Playing this on a tethered headset is fun, but the freedom of the wireless Oculus Quest is just unreal and adds so much. You can walk or look around unfettered, which is supremely useful when there’s multiple enemies at the gates of your visor. Pretty much everything I could think of, developer Schell Games put in. “What if I don’t want to block or attack with both weapons?” Well, early on you can buy a gauntlet that doesn’t allow blocking with whatever hand you equip it in but provides other bonuses like extra health. “What if I want to swap what weapon is in what hand?” You can do that from the hub between runs. “What if I get super tired and need to take a break?” Saving and quitting will return you back to the same level mid-run.
