Orcs Must Die Free Download Unfitgirl The current trend in tower defense gives players an avatar to control and sends them into the action, rather than letting them simply place towers from a safe distance. Toy Soldiers did this with much success in two Xbox Live Arcade outings, but for a more medieval affair you should check out Orcs Must Die. From Robot Entertainment, developer of Halo Wars, Orcs Must Die lets you play dungeon interior decorator and build playgrounds of orcish murder. The title pretty much says it all: orcs are busting into your keep and you must kill them. More specifically, you must prevent them from reaching your headquarters (pretty standard fare for tower defense games). Where Orcs Must Die excels is in the variety of toys it gives you to play with and the pace at which it doles them out. You earn something new with each victory so you always want to keep playing to check out your reward. A nice array of traps means you have the freedom to decorate your own way. Drop hot coals that will incinerate the orcs as they stomp by or place a spring trap that launches them into a nearby lava pit. However you like to kill your orcs, this game probably has you covered. But trap placement isn’t your only concern. Your limited funds will only allow for so many spike pits and wall blades, meaning you’ll need to get your hands dirty and kill some orcs yourself with your crossbow, bladestaff, and other fun weapons. The combat satisfies and can be utilized more by players that prefer action to strategy. This is a single-player game, but you’ll definitely get your money’s worth from the lengthy campaign. Orcs Must Die! has done something I’d thought impossible: it’s a tower defense game that actually gets deeper and more rewarding the longer you play it. The joy comes not just from the sadistic delight of watching a wall-trap viciously fillet a crowd of almost lovable cartoon orcs with a series of spinning-blades, but also from the Portal-like cycle of running into a tricky problem, taking a break to ponder it, and then racing back to try a new solution. With friends’ scores taunting me on my personalized leader board (my Sunday night was ruined by Dan Stapleton knocking me off the top of every single level), I’m constantly trying to design even better murdermazes on early levels. The first time through I only had a few tools, but in playing through the lengthy series of levels I’ve now unlocked at least a dozen different traps and special powers. Every time I got a new toy, my mind immediately ran wild with the possibilities of elegant abattoirs that I could create on some of the nettlesome early maps.

6 Orc-Killing Weapons and Spells

Spiked pressure plates on the floor are all well and good, but a spring trap that launches flailing orcs helplessly into pools of lava is more stylish. I also delighted in the cruel irony of a push trap that shoves surviving orcs back into the same gauntlet of traps they just escaped. The traps are the most fun way to dispatch orcs and their allies (like fast-moving rat men and huge, hard-hitting ogres), but using my War Mage to personally slay, shoot, and fry them in third-person view can often be the difference between victory and defeat. He’s basically Gandalf’s intern – a wizardly fratboy of dubious competence and limitless arrogance. I don’t like his attitude, but when he’s equipped with the awesomely powerful Flame Gauntlets, it’s hard to deny he’s an essential part of any defense. Still, you get more points for killing orcs with an elaborate combination of traps and minions (archers, for instance), so earning a high score is a gruesome balancing act of slaughtering the hordes by hand and feeding them into your machinery of death. And even with its whimsical, World of Warcraft-derived art style, it certainly is gruesome. There are moments of eye-popping carnage as orcs are chopped into pieces, or sent catapulting through crowds of their fellows before plummeting into waiting acid pools. Car Detailing Simulator

Orcs Must Die!’s levels defy easy solutions, and that’s what sets it apart from other tower defense games. Solutions themselves change in hugely interesting ways as you bring more advanced items and powers back from the later levels, giving a challenge that not only doesn’t pale with experience, but actually grows richer. Not since Lemmings has a game so seamlessly mixed engaging mechanics, humor, cuteness, and gleeful cruelty. An army of orcs waits just beyond the final barricade, but you’re ready. Sticky tar pits line the entrance accompanied by wall-mounted, spring-loaded axes. A field of spikes follows, leading to a massive springboard pointed straight at a pit of lava. And if all else fails, you’ve always got your trusty crossbow. Similar in concept to Trenched, Orcs Must Die! puts a proactive spin on the tower defense genre. This single-player only adventure has some noticeable omissions, but what it does offer is easily accessible and immediately enjoyable. As one of the last battle mages, you must defend the rifts from an onslaught of murderous, and dim-witted, orcs. If you let too many pass through, all the peaceful townsfolk living in their peaceful cottages will discover the violent end of a rusty axe. Of course, you’re not alone in this fight. Air geysers, swinging maces, and more are your brothers in arms against the green tide. If you use them well, they’ll do the bulk of the orc stomping for you.

Character

A constant progression of new weapons and enemies drives you through the adventure, and they ensure the same strategy won’t work for every stage. The simple-minded orcs may fall to a healthy application of spikes and arrows, but what happens when a hulking ogre or a pack of speedy kobolds charges in? You need to choose your tools wisely at the start of each stage since space is limited. And to help narrow your selection, you are presented with a list of enemy types you’ll face. After that, it’s all about planning. Of course, sometimes your best-laid plans come toppling down. That’s when you have to put on your big-boy battle mage pants and dive into the fray yourself. By default, your character comes equipped with a crossbow for dropping enemies at a distance. You can also equip a sword and numerous spells to further enhance your one-man-army status. And each weapon has two modes of fire, but the combat is still simple; it’s definitely a complement to the traps, rather than the game’s focus. For your efforts, you are awarded copious funds with which to upgrade your character and buy new traps. Character upgrades are purchased, and repurchased, at the start of each stage from one of three skill sets. You can only select one set to purchase from for that stage, and each has its own specialization. Picking up the enchanted weapons in one set denies you the trap-specific upgrades in another. And these upgrades reset after each stage, so you can try different tactics with different skill complements. Chinatown Detective Agency Switch NSP

Your traps can also be upgraded by spending the skulls you earn at the end of each stage. The better your performance, the more skulls you get. Unlike the skills, these upgrades are permanent and improve the trap in a specific way. The brimstone trap, for example, can be improved so that when enemies pass over it and catch fire, they burn longer. A constant string of new traps and enemy types keeps you interested to see what the next challenge will bring. However, it is disappointing that this variety doesn’t carry over to the stage designs, which all look very similar. Even at its most chaotic, Orcs Must Die! makes it easy to keep track of what’s happening onscreen. There may be arrows flying and orcs being catapulted into the air, but the presentation lacks any unnecessary flair and keeps the visual noise to a minimum. Each enemy type looks distinct from the others, and the impact your traps has is immediately apparent. The lack of any multiplayer modes is a disappointment. Having a friend to help cover some of the two, three, or four entrances would have been a welcome addition. The hero’s constant use of snappy one-liners can also grate on the ears, especially when you get the same lines back-to-back. But if you endure the juvenile humor, a substantially harder difficulty level opens up after you finish the game. To help even the odds, all of your previous trap upgrades carry over so you can start saving for all of those traps you didn’t tweak during your first playthrough.

Story-based Campaign

If you are even a casual video gamer, then chances are you’ve heard of the Orcs Must Die! video game series. If you aren’t familiar with it, Orcs Must Die! is an action tower defense style video game where players are trying to defend a rift from an onslaught of orcs. Heroes, gratuitous use of traps, lots of combat, and even a bit of humor define this series, now in its third iteration. Flash back to 2015, veteran game designer Sandy Petersen (Cthulhu Wars, Call of Cthulhu RPG) decided to take a stab at bringing this popular video game to our tabletop. Petersen Game’s successful Kickstarter campaign funded to over 1,500 loyal backers and arrived in backers hands near the end of 2016. We’ve take Orcs Must Die! The Board Game out for a spin and we’re ready to let you know if it holds up to the fun of the video game. Orcs Must Die! The Board Game is a cooperative tower defense style board game for 1-4 players (up to 8 with the partner game) that takes about 60-120 minutes to play. Orcs Must Die: The Board Game plays well at any player count. There are actually two different versions of Orcs Must Die! The Board Game, Unchained and The Order. For this review, we’ll be going over (and using pictures from) The Order version of the game. However game play between the two versions is mostly identical, other than components. Owning both versions will allow you to play rivalry mode (more on that later).

In Orcs Must Die!: The Order – The Board Game (hereto referred to as simply Orcs Must Die for brevity’s sake) players must work together to defend the rift tile from increasingly larger waves of enemies. Each round, players will be laying traps, purchasing gear, fighting hordes of orcs and other monsters, all while trying to keep their head above water. The game is played over nine rounds, and if at the end the invasion, the rift is still standing, players win! If you’ve spent any time with a Petersen Games product, you know they like to put out quality games. Their first offering, Cthulhu Wars (reviewed here), was one of the best looking board games put out that year. So I had high hopes with Orcs Must Die. And for the most part, Petersen Games didn’t disappoint. The main attraction for Orcs Must Die are the miniatures. The game comes with 50+ miniatures (4 heroes and lots of minions) in a variety of sculpts that match their video game counter parts. Chocobo GP Switch NSP

In regards to the minis, Peteresen Games did something really good and really odd. For the good, most of the minis come in a plastic tray that keeps them secure. In an amazing stroke of inspiration, they also included a handy visual aid to easily put each minion back in it’s proper place (you hear that CMON Games? Take note!). On the other hand, some minions were also just loose in an area in the bottom of the box. This caused two of my minis to arrive damaged. While I was able to glue them back together, I am guessing that this won’t be an isolated issue. Moving on, the game also comes with 29 tiles (some with very humorous names), 4 decks of cards, custom dice and oversized player cards. Everything here was high quality and garnered no complaints from our team. Finally, the game’s rulebook was thick and printed on a high quality stock. Unfortunately, it could definitely have used some refinement as there are quite a few issues and typos in it, more than once I had to hop online to figure out a rules question. I would expect an official FAQ/Errata from Petersen Games very soon.
