Even the most helpful civilian risks eventually caving under pressure, so be ready to call in the chopper to take them to safety. You alone are fit to continue your stand! Prepare to “awww” at Zelter’s adorable pixel graphics even as you put up defensive structures or follow a desperate survivor’s call for help. Zelter pairs its survival and crafting based gameplay with the cutest visuals. So I’ve been playing for about 3 hours and here’s my thoughts. The game is exactly as advertised, a game where you run around and collect resources and build up a base and upgrade your character while trying to survive a zombie apocalypse. It’s been very fun, but I find it to be very challenging. I’ve been playing in the “Pioneer Mode” which is the more relaxed mode compared to the “Challenge Mode”. I’ve died to starvation several times due to food being a very hard to find resource and gardening takes way too long to be useful in the beginning stage. Most of my runs have been around 10-20 minutes. Once you start gathering NPC’s they also need to eat or the zombify and kill each other. The zombies are challenging, but manageable. The starting base is great. Overall I would recommend it, but the difficulty of finding food makes the early stage very hard. I would still recommend the game though to people who are interested in the genre. If anyone has any tips that’d be great as well, I would love to be wrong. Honestly what got my attention was the pixel art, and zombies! Pretty cool! Gathering: While I do enjoy breaking stuff down, which is pretty much anything, what you get vs item hp isn’t what I’d call balanced. Some things take way too long to break for very lil. Zombies have good hearing I guess cuz they always rush to me when I try to forage, especially at night.

Scavenge and build to survive.

Being able to break down the things you build so you can either recycle parts from it or even just move it around would be nice instead of them dropping nothing and only being destroyed. Once you put something down its just there forever. Lastly, looting should be a more prominent feature like other survivals like being able to search fridges in other houses, cabinets, or even dead bodies of other survivors. Crafting: It’s one of the things in this game I feel that’s pretty solid. Could definitely use more variety, but I’m sure in later updates, it’ll get more stuff you can make. Combat: The guns are nice, and they hit decently hard while having drawbacks depending on what you use. Only having a spear and a few others is a bit worrying, some more variety in close combat weapons would be nice. Zombies themselves aren’t too bad to fight, until you get swarmed. Not a whole lot you can do about it. Zombies (PvP): A way to know more about your enemy would be nice since a lot of them have personality to them, like an enemy log. My only complaint with them is that they home in on you too well, and once they THINK, there’s an enemy in a direction they will start breaking stuff and rarely give up the chase which sucks even if you break line of sight. A lot of them can outrun you and add more zombies to the chase which can be very unforgiving. In all honesty, it’s a pain and a chore. That needs some working on to balance zombies out. Why would you want to fight, you lose bullets, much needed health, and gain infection when getting hit even just a lil bit. What do you get in return??SUPERHOT VR

A few bones and coins. Yeah no, that’s hardly fun for anyone. they just spill stuff, being able to get better rewards while also making them less annoying to fight is the key to making us as the player want to actually take the idea of engaging them especially when you make it so that we are forced to fight them at times even at the start of the game when we don’t have much of anything to work with. NPCs: I wanna say that NPCs should NOT be the main focus of this game. It should be optional but this game forces it on you for missions, sometimes they just spawn in even no doors are opened, they just draw zombies in large crowds and suddenly you have to deal with them, you have no options. If they spawn in your ‘home’ area they will destroy a lot of your stuff. I’ve grown to ignore NPCs cuz I don’t get much reward for helping them. You have to deal with zombies cuz of them and whatever damage they cause, another mouth to feed when again there’s not much to do about food, and when they die, you pretty much die because they get turned into a pretty strong and fast zombie which can kill you quicker than some bosses, on top of the zombies that killed the NPC that will also be all over you. You rarely have the resources to be able to save a lot of people, and when I try, I always die regardless of pioneer mode or challenge on any difficulty. Status: It’s really just the items you get and can get that make it not fun to deal with them. This isn’t even including infection which can be dialed down cuz that’s the most unfun thing about your character and NPC’s. The way to cure yourself is very not user friendly, and a bit too hard when you cant find the right plants cuz they are very rare and hardly grow at all even in places that you should fine plenty of them.

Survive against the odds in Challenge Mode.

Infection at the moment makes it very hard to enjoy the game cuz it climbs too fast, and is too hard to cure or even lower, the booster item hardly helps cuz it costs a lot to make, and only is good if your about to get into a fight which u cant always be prepared for. So if hunger doesn’t kill you, then infection will. That too, it’s a bit too fast when it comes to hunger, you never have enough resources, and it drains way too fast. Humans can survive for 3 days without food n water, so how much sense does it makes that I can’t go even 1 day without loads of food and water?? Pioneer Mode: This mode you get a base of your own though it’s always the same base and same location which isn’t that fun when die a lot and have to go to the same place and do the same things, has very little replay value once you lose everything, it could use more randomly generated areas, like how a lot of survival games are, and because it’s a pixel game it can be done more doable then a 3D survivor game. It has no difficulty and says it’s easier but I find that untrue. Trees and rocks break easier in challenge modes, so it doesn’t make sense for a ‘relaxed’ mode to have these things be harder to break. It’s lil things like that that give you the fun that minecraft has that this game could have but it doesn’t cuz its just a hassle to do certain things. Pioneer just needs to be as it says, ‘relaxed’ cuz it’s anything but that. Challenge Mode: The better mode in my opinion but is really only doable in novice which says a lot about it. Novice difficulty in terms of how you break stuff down, kill enemies, and survive in general should be the normal difficulty, and not the easy. Battletech

Survival doesn’t need to be easy, just doable. I do like how you get put in a diff spot with diff items at the start but again the difficulty of surviving on top of having to help NPC’s and somehow get a base built makes any mode almost impossible to do cuz you’ll just get killed sooner or later without getting very far. Base Building: Or lack there of, there isn’t really any base building which takes the fun out of the game if your just wandering around everywhere. You need a base if you wanna be able to survive, have a place to store stuff, and save NPCs. Being able to use an existing building as a base should be more doable cuz every time I do I just get broken in to and die. Since all your tables and stuff are standing objects, you can’t take them with you not can you break down to transport like in mine craft making it impossible to do much of anything without having one single place to live in. Pacing: The main offender is the pacing. From dropping down immediately and having to survive which is what I like. It’s just the number of things the game expects you to do at the start which makes it hard. Gathering takes a while, and you’ll need a lot to craft anything as well as repair. Finding food is much too difficult and sometimes looking for food will just get you killed, so food becomes a problem day one and continues to be. Water on the other hand is fairly ez to handle once you know how to craft. NPCs are expected to be saved on drop sometimes which is very not possible cuz of lack of resources, and it takes so long to get enough resources to just be stable and have enough tables ti make stuff but I can only get that far by ignoring NPcs and never interacting with them but the perks they give is nice so often I’ll find myself talking to them for perks and than leaving them for dead cuz the game as it is is too hard for it to be worth saving them.

Band together with NPC survivors in Pioneer Mode.

Between the time of day, infection, finding food, making shelter (name of the game btw), helping NPCs, fighting zombies, crafting and gathering, there’s a lot of fault here but so much potential. I bothered to write all this cuz I feel this game can be so much more, and I wanna see it be a better game that others will wanna play. As it stands, there’s a lot that needs work but I believe it can get there. Here’s hoping it’ll continue to be worked on and become a game I can get really invested in. These flaws aside, I’ve enjoyed the game for what it is!! I think this is the fastest I’ve ever requested a refund for a game that isn’t broken and won’t open first off I love the art style of the game that is why I gave it a shot but holy crap is it awful I don’t mind grinding in these types of games that’s a given but to spend a full minute hitting one tree to harvest is and get so at best 10 wood from it is insane but the biggest deal breaker is there is no point at all to searching houses and such other than breaking down the random furniture there is nothing at all to loot after speed running more than 10 houses I never found one thing to take the only container to loot I even found at all was a random box at the side of the road that’s it this is the only zombie game I have ever played where you can’t search for food, weapons, ammo, and so on in buildings at all. Zelter has a simple learning curve but requires at least a few minutes in tutorial mode to understand how exactly the game works. In general, unlike Project Zomboid, Zelter is a fast-paced game where one of your objectives is to save as many survivors as you can while you unlock parts of the city to explore. Due to this fact, the game becomes a little harder along the time as well – The difficulty increases along with the unlock map process.

The visuals, the soundtrack, and the UX are very good. The texts are easy to read and the interface is clean. The crafting system and the base defense are good as well. The only thing I didn’t like is the fact the NPCs look kind of dumb (lol). I mean, as far as I saw you can’t give complex orders, like: “go hunting”, “go gathering”, or “patrol the base”. after playing for a while it really a good game but there a lot of thing that NPC can’t do or we can’t do for them for example that the one we recuit nearly infected and we have no way to cure them even if we put the cure in them or in chest one they become infected they come near us then turn in to zombie with the gun we give them and shoot everyone when we kill them they not gonna drop any of that back And maybe I hope there a coop in future so I can play with my friend or random people sever  ( after 21 hour play) kill boss play challenge you will feel empty and nothing more to do and the game lack of a lot thing for NPC and content (or for the content that all of it nothing more) for the price it not worth it for the time I spend for the game hope it got some improve in future so I can give it a dum up for the game but now am not really recommend it Unfortunately there’s just not enough content for the price right now. I enjoyed pioneer mode once I figured out the combat, but again for the price, there’s just not enough content. There’s also quite a lot of polish that still needs to be done. Disappointing that I need to leave a negative review because the gameplay loop is fun, but the game is just too early to recommend.

Too hard and therefore not fun: I started a new game, gradually building a little world. I disturb a zombie and then two appear, then four. They destroy my base even though I am well out of sight and then that’s it – I lose everything. The zombies are too aggressive and ferocious for the early game. Def much better than I expected from some of the old reviews. They must’ve updated the game. My only complaint is that NPCs don’t really get stronger with time. I’d love to be able to level them like I level my character so I can make my zombie-exterminating team. Helping them evacuate makes for a good story as well. I’ve just seen that there is a new update (Pioneer) and I’ve decided to try the game again. This new update changes the game, but in a good way. You have goals now, and to me, that makes it more fun. I wanna say that NPCs should NOT be the main focus of this game. It should be optional but this game forces it on you for missions, sometimes they just spawn in even no doors are opened, they just draw zombies in large crowds and suddenly you have to deal with them, you have no options.
