I have never seen a game that gets such awful scores by some and terrific scores form others. While redundant, it seems the idea could be a strong one for the system and that there is some potential. Those of you giving this game such high marks, please compair to other games. I have also noticed that the controls were a major complaint by some b/c they are hard. Is it that they are truely hard, which i think can be fine, or are they difficult to make work using the wii remotes? Any insight would be appreciated. The Figure Skating is a disaster. I was hoping to move the contollers around and have the skater mimic the movements, but all this is, is a timing based system of flicking the right contoller up at the right time. All of the other events are at least good and at best great. i am so glad that most evetns have their own controls. This is NOT a bunch of mini games where you shake the controls as fast as you can every time. The cross country skiing takes timing and strategey, not fast twitch reflexes. I think it boils down to preference. If you don’t like winter sports, then stay the hell away, the best parts of this game is the cross country, the ski jump and the bob/skeleton etc. parts. Curling and ice dance aren’t my cup of tea in real life, but they really sucked in Wintersports. The alpine disciplines weren’t too shabby and the skating works too. If you like wintersports, and don’t mind watching cross country skiing, then this game is perfect. I seriously doubt that Gamespot has anyone qualified to review a game about winter sports, they probably just chose a guy who likes to hit the slopes during the holidays or something. Of course, this is just me guessing. We’ve had Winter Sports in our house for a couple of weeks now. The whole family has played it on and off since that time. For the adults, the controls are easy to pick up, but some events are hard to master. The kids (7 and 4) have a harder time with the controls, but most of the events they still have fun with. Overall, I’m real glad to have this in our collection. We enjoy Mario & Sonic Olympics, but this one has less wild shaking, which is fine by me. The presentation is nice, and the graphics are as good as any Wii game I’ve seen so far. Dead or Alive Xtreme: Venus Vacation
