TRIANGLE STRATEGY Switch NSP Free Download Unfitgirl When we previewed Triangle Strategy’s opening hours just a few weeks ago we came away suitably impressed by its slick mix of choice-driven narrative, detailed world-building and satisfyingly strategic combat action. It’s a setup that immediately engaged us, introducing a strong cast of characters, embroiling us in some fascinating Game of Thrones-style fantasy politics, and setting the stage for what we dearly hoped would be a grand tale full of drama, epic battles and tough decisions to come. Thankfully, now that we’ve spent some 50 or so hours with the finished product, we can report that Square Enix has fully delivered on the promise of its prologue demo. Triangle Strategy is a fantastic tactical RPG that serves up an engrossing tale, top-notch battles, multiple routes through its excellent campaign and several wildly different endings that you’ll absolutely want to dive back into the game in order to experience. This one barely puts a foot wrong. Assuming the role of Serenoa Wolffort, players are thrust into the political landscape of Norzelia, where three kingdoms, Glenbrook, Hyzante and Aesfrost, are just about holding together an uneasy alliance that was formed in the aftermath of the great “Saltiron wars”. Of course, by the time the prologue is done here, that alliance has been all but shattered and what follows is a twisting, turning delight of a campaign that somehow never loses its momentum, slowly building to a fantastic finale that sees you get to choose exactly how you wish to see your version of Serenoa’s story end. It may take its sweet time at points — we’ve already seen plenty of comments in the wake of the demo wondering if the game continues to feature so much in the way of lengthy conversations between battles (it absolutely does) — but the pay-off is so worth it. This a game that sinks its hooks into you, introduces a fantastic cast of characters that you’ll grow to truly care about, thrusts you into impossible situations and affords you the opportunity to make genuinely meaningful choices that affect who lives or dies and who and what will be destroyed as you make the sacrifices necessary in order to prevail. It’s an impressively mature and complex campaign in many ways, too, one that manages to successfully mix its political and more fantastical elements, injecting plenty of real-world issues regarding religious manipulation of the masses, fabricated fear as a means of control, slavery and racism into its tale. Honestly, we’re not going to detail a single moment of the story here as any spoilers would entirely ruin the impact of the thing, but Triangle Strategy just absolutely delivers on the narrative front. Triangle Strategy takes place on the continent of Norzelia, 30 years after a devastating conflict over natural resources called the Saltiron War. Norzelia is separated into the nations of Glenbrook, Aesfrost, and Hyzante. You play as Serenoa Wolffort, the young heir to one of the three high houses of Glenbrook.

TRIANGLE STRATEGY AND ITS STORIES

The lands of Nortelia suffered too much in the War of Salt and Iron , a fierce confrontation that broke out between three countries and ended with no losers or winners. Thirty years after the end of hostilities, the opening of a rich mine brings together the economic and productive efforts of the three old adversaries, finally laying the foundations for a lasting period of peace. It will not last long, as a discovery destined to change the world will set the gears of destiny in motion, handing the future of Nortelia into the hands of the young Serenoa Wolfhort. I don’t want to add anything else, because the Triangle Strategy storyline is its real strength, beautifully narrated by an engaging Italian adaptation and carried on by many of those twists to fill a couple of seasons of Game of Thrones. Triangle Strategy’s lengthy tale delivers politics, intrigue, and heroics in spades. It’s definitely a slow burn, but once that fire is properly kindled, it becomes impossible to put down until the very end. It has the maturity and gravitas of similar classics like Final Fantasy Tactics. It doesn’t shy away from religious dogma, murder, racism, or a myriad of other social topics that would realistic be present in such a world. The occasionally slow pacing is one of the few drawbacks — along with the inconsistent voice acting. Pokémon Shining Pearl Switch NSP

While the actual writing in the story generally has a high quality, many of the voice performances feel wooden and lackluster. Admittedly, a lot of the performances grew on me after a dozen or so hours, but it certainly feels jarring at the start. But the game’s strengths make up for these minor flaws. The game’s underlying choice system stands out, governed by three aspects: Utility, Morality, and Liberty. Oftentimes dialogue will present three choices that correspond to these ideas, and the choices you make compile and lead to different outcomes. At the same time, the overall narrative is highlighted by major choices in sections where you use the “Scales of Conviction.” In these major moments, each of your advisors has a token that they use to cast their vote, and before voting, you can try to convince characters to vote for the option you want, although it doesn’t always work. These are essential choices that literally change the way the story plays out and can lead to paths with exclusive battles and sequences. The choices are also consistently gut-wrenching, oftentimes forcing you to choose the lesser of two evils. Triangle Strategy even features multiple endings that depend on the choices you make as you shatter or forge alliances and friendships. While it should be in the running for overall game of the year, one award that Triangle Strategy is sure to walk away with is worst title. And for good reason: it lacks the style and heart oozing from every pore of the actual game, doing a disservice to just how incredible an experience it offers.

CHOOSE YOUR DESTINY

Fans have begged Square Enix for a remaster or remake of the original Final Fantasy Tactics, and while that game isn’t quite the same as Triangle Strategy, this is the best facsimile we’ve ever received. Producer Tomoya Asano, who also led development of Octopath Traveler, must have heard the criticism of his former work loud and clear because a robust, player-driven story is at the heart of Triangle Strategy. The way in which fun, challenging combat, sublime visuals and soundtrack, and a gripping, well-told narrative all intersect make for one hell of a three-sided shape. The continent of Norzelia is home to three separate factions, Glenbrook, Aesfrost, and Hyzante, and it’s obvious from the outset that achieving a perfect balance between them is an ever-moving target. As lord of House Wolfort, players guide young Serenoa in his quest to protect his own people while also navigating the conflicts that threaten to plunge Norzelia into all-out war. The discovery of a new mine sets off a chain reaction that leads to Aesfrost invading Glenbrook, and from there spins out a tale filled with branching paths, unexpected deceit, and painstaking choices. In addition to multiple distinct endings, Triangle Strategy offers unique routes to obtain each one, and it’s likely that almost every person’s first playthrough will be noticeably different. Across 20 chapters, many of which have multiple sub-chapters, players engage in a few different types of gameplay to advance the story. Optional events include those that shed light on what’s happening around the continent at the time, and also character-focused ones that allow you to recruit new party members or learn more about the ones that have joined up. Mandatory events are divided into one of four categories: combat, exploration, voting, and story. While story segments involve watching through a cutscene, the other three are fully interactive. Producer Tomaya Asano, who also worked on Bravely Default and Octopath Traveler, has spoken in the past of how he wanted to take this game in a slightly different direction, away from some of the more traditional aspects of JRPGs, and it’s a decision that’s worked wonders for how the action in Triangle Strategy flows. The narrative structure here is tight, and there’s no unnecessary dilution of the core crisis by shifting the player’s focus into the shoes of multiple protagonists; you’re pretty much locked into the story from Serenoa’s point of view and it makes proceedings all the more intense and memorable as a result.

A LITTLE LIGHTNESS

Yes, you’ll be given ample opportunity to hop around the world map between battles and watch how events are unfolding in other regions and with other factions through short cutscenes, but the main thrust is always kept on House Wollfort and the escalating dangers that you and your allies face as the story progresses. The core gameplay loop here consists of lengthy narrative elements, big beefy battles and short periods of exploration that allow you to wander around the game’s beautiful little dioramas — and it’s a loop that works really, really well in keeping the player invested at all times in what’s going on across a lengthy campaign. Much has been made of the “Scales of Conviction” choice-driven aspects of Triangle Strategy in the build-up to release and to this end the game also manages to fully deliver on its promise. In these instances you’ll be given two or three different resolutions to a major plot point, the situation is carefully explained in detail, characters in your party voice their opinions, and then you’ll have the opportunity to attempt to convince any who are wavering to stand with you before everyone casts their vote and a decision is made that branches the narrative out in a different direction, as neatly illustrated by a timeline map showing you how you’ve diverged from the main path. It’s cracking stuff that both directly affects the story and works to give you enough agency that you’re kept absolutely embroiled in what’s going on, to the point we found it hard to put down, playing just one more hour here and there to see how the next big dramatic point would play out. The real problem concerns the customization of the units, which unfortunately fails to reach illustrious peaks such as the successful Job System of Final Fantasy Tactics, resulting barely functional. The equipment is limited to the possibility of wearing a couple of accessories, with no armor, helmets and various trinkets to aim for. The only upgrades therefore concern the weapons and the class, both of which can be improved twice. In the first case, stronger weapons will pave the way for a series of bonuses that will require an increasing investment of resources with each activation. So if you have the unfortunate idea of pumping up your mage’s physical strength first, know that you may run out of materials when it comes time to give him an extra hit point injection. The one chosen for Triangle Strategy is a system that paves the way for some planning, since the merchant’s inventory is not unlimited, but they are really the only choices you will be asked to make, also because extra moves and passive skills such as counterattack will be automatically unlocked by reaching certain levels and, depending on the case, by promoting the units to advanced classes.

Another unknown factor is represented by the beliefs of the protagonist , defined by the scores of pragmatism, morality and freedom. Every little action contributes to increasing these values behind the scenes, invisible to the player at least in the first run; reached a satisfactory score, new characters will appear to be recruited. Here, our units deserve a separate discussion, since there are no classes to change, and each specializes in their unique role. Anna is a spy capable of attacking twice and disappearing into the shadows, while Frederica, Serenoa’s betrothed, is the only one destined to study in depth the most arcane secrets of pyromancy: these are all their skills and, net of some jokers like the eclectic wizard Narve, there are no duplicates. This has obvious limitations (trivially, you can’t have a troop made up solely of wizards), but I admit that I don’t mind the uniqueness of individual warriors that much.
