STAY Switch NSP Free Download Unfitgirl We’re all a little guilty of peering into the stats screen of a game to see our overall playtime. Sometimes it’s out of pride, providing a glimpse into the sheer dedication you’ve put into your favourite new obsession, or perhaps you’re simply morbidly curious to discover how much of your life you’ve spent doing emotes in Fortnite or dominating Splatfests in Splatoon 2. However, what about how much time you’ve not been playing. What kind of numbers would those stats have to say? And what if you could have as much of an impact on the game’s outcome in your absence as you could actually playing it? That’s the intriguing concept that drives STAY, an indie adventure that dares to tackle some very real subjects and taboos while placing an almost ’24’-esque sense of tension throughout. The game follows the life of Quinn, a man who goes to bed one night and then wakes up in a darkened cellar with nothing more than a computer, a desk, a chair and a poster on the wall. The poster is written in Latin and tells the thoroughly confused man he’s free to use the computer. He logs into a chat room, and on the other end… is you. You’re now Quinn’s only real connection to the outside world, and to reality itself. Who has kidnapped him and why? What does that mysterious symbol on the poster beside him mean? What are those sounds he keeps hearing? Unfitgirl.COM SEXY GAMES

You’re as much in the dark as he is, and it’s only through an ongoing chat room conversation that one mystery is solved – only for three more to then take its place. Since 80% of the game is spent in this chat room format, you’re going to have to prepare yourself for a text-heavy experience. With 25 chapters amounting to around four-to-five hours worth of play, STAY does – none too ironically – outstay its own welcome a little, but thankfully most of the dialogue chats with Quinn are littered with unusual developments and further questions that keep you engaged for the most part. You’ll only have a limited number of responses to give him – and can only send them when prompted to on-screen – but these exchanges drastically shape Quinn’s state of mind. STAY tracks his current psychological state and his rapport with you via a Trust and an Emotional Bond set of metres. A heart symbol will flash on-screen when a response you’ve made elicits a greater sense of trust, while a symbol showing two linked circles represents his connection. Both can rise and fall depending on how you speak to your unfortunate new friend. Quinn’s mood will also ebb and flow as the story progresses, and this is represented by four sloshing orbs – Sanguine, Phlegmatic, Melancholic and Choleric – full of different coloured liquids. These are based on the Ancient Greek theory of the Four Temperaments, which stated the mind was made of four balanced moods (much like the similar ‘four humours’ that were said to balance the body).

Webcams enable you to spy on Quinn

These orbs will fill and empty in real-time as Quinn becomes more agitated or calm. And let’s not forget it’s called STAY for a reason. The game uses Switch’s internal clock to track how long you spend with Quinn and how long you spend away. Failing to return to him after long periods of time could lead his mental state to collapse, with you logging back in only to discover a site you’ll wish you hadn’t. This is a game that bravely deals with topics such as death, anxiety, isolation and depression and it doesn’t take long for you to learn just how broken and lost Quinn truly is. And leaving him alone for too long, locked in the fiction of the game’s lonely setting, can have devastating consequences. Thankfully, the game lets you restart from the beginning of the last chapter should things turn bleak, so you’re not forced to restart your experience if such an event occurs. This Tamagotchi-style conceit does make for a compelling experience – although we would advise you play this in one sitting as any game that potentially punishes you for putting it down can make for an uncomfortable experience if you’re looking for a simple pick-up-and-play affair. You also need to be online to play, since it records your decisions (and your stay time/absence time) periodically. If you try and play away from a Wi-Fi connection, you’ll be bombarded with a reconnection message so often it renders the game unplayable. Elex II PS5

STAY’s problems mostly arise from the glacial pace that its story unfolds. It’s genuinely engaging to watch this character hold onto a strand of hope or descend into a melancholic freefall, but for a game that ultimately demands you commit to it in the first instance, that narrative-driven setup lacks much variety outside of Quinn’s fluctuating psyche. Things are punctuated by the occasional cutscene (where Quinn leaves the computer to explore or follow-up on a lead you’ve discussed) or a rare puzzle. Annoyingly, these puzzles vary from short and clever to long and obtuse but fail to offer the kind of gameplay variance STAY very much needs. There is, however, plenty of content to keep you coming back for more. There are seven endings to unlock, over 40 rooms to unlock and discover (each with their own items, puzzles and potential routes further into the labyrinth) and narrative paths that diverge depending on which dialogue choices you’ve made up until that point. Quinn’s mental state can differ wildly, opening up brand new streams of text, so each revisit has the potential to offer a noticeably different experience each time. Addressing social issues in a video game more often than not turns into a minefield. In this case, the developer of STAY, a game in which a psychiatrist is trapped in a room with a single contact to the outside world, has created a title to help bring light on mental health.

Featuring 24 chapters

It’s an issue that has become more relevant in today’s society, and the effort was obvious though felt a bit underdeveloped. A lot of interesting ideas begin to take shape, but a lack of polish and overreliance on vague themes left the experience lacking and the overall message unclear. It all starts with a kidnapping. We learn through discussion and a short cutscene that a man has been abducted during the night by a masked assailant and placed in a locked room with nothing but a computer. It’s through this computer we interact with the poor soul Quinn, an admittedly mediocre psychiatrist who doesn’t understand the reason for his predicament and relies on the player to help him through the situation. The entire game plays out via chatting with Quinn. You direct him on what to investigate as he attempts to escape, and talk him through the experience as he tries to discover the reason for his imprisonment. The experience felt much like a point-and-click adventure game just without the actual point-and-click part. Quinn describes different interactable items in a room and you choose which deserve his attention. Often a puzzle will present itself that needs to be solved to continue, ranging from incredibly easy to a few that just made no sense to me whatsoever. Even after finding the solution to a couple online, I still couldn’t understand how I was supposed to know the solution. Empires of the Undergrowth

Aside from the puzzles, each chapter has a decision that changes the course of the story or end the game entirely. No decision requires you to restart the game as anytime you provide bad advice that results in Quinn’s death you simply restart the chapter. Some interesting new ideas are presented in STAY but most don’t feel fully realized. Time is tracked during gameplay, both the time you spend with Quinn and the time spent away from him. It’s made clear at the outset that the amount of time between playing will affect the outcome but after completion I couldn’t tell you what the impact was. The only instance it came up was when I left halfway through a chapter and upon my return I was cursed out by Quinn and he ended the chat, thus requiring me to restart the chapter. In the pause menu, the status of your relationship with Quinn is tracked and fluctuates based on the advice and responses you provide. Again, I can only assume that this someone factored into the calculation for which ending you would achieve as no valid reason for the tracker is presented during the game. A lot of neat ideas are presented in STAY but they just don’t feel like they were implemented in an effective way. The most interesting segments get interrupted with puzzles that mostly feel like a way of extending the play time. I also ran into a few performance issues like puzzles becoming unresponsive which required a reboot and a chapter restart.

Explore different rooms and unearth hidden secrets

I think the developer is on the right track but for this particular game some more polish and better or more relevant puzzles would have gone a long way at creating a more entertaining experience. Imagine being the last lifeline for someone kidnapped – you’re only in contact with them through text message, and you’re hanging on to every last message not knowing how things would play out. It’s a position of high responsibility mixed with tense anxiety, and that’s the clear setup made by Barcelona-based studio Appnormals Team. Its recent release, Stay, falls into the lines of many desk games such as Her Story or Secret Little Haven. It sees you parsing through a chat log and managing the emotional state of a kidnapped man, Quinn, as he tries to find out why and how he ended up in his predicament. The bulk of the game will be spent in a chatroom interface, while reading Quinn’s messages and guiding him along his escape plan. The game starts with both the player and Quinn totally in the dark – you will need to work together to figure out exactly what kind of situation has unfolded, and to rationalise the potential dangers that Quinn must protect himself from. It blends elements of visual novel, text adventure and puzzle together to form a cohesive narrative, with high stakes and plenty of tension. Escape from Tarkov

The mechanic which sold me most on this game was its constant timer: the time you spend away from the game is “remembered” by Quinn, and he will respond to your devotion or indifference in kind. At its best, it’s almost like having a person trapped inside your game console, or having to be responsible for someone in a difficult situation through constant text message support. It introduces the stress of the game’s thriller narrative into the real world, and creates a sense of empathy for Quinn, who begins to feel “real”. The game also provides a very complex interlocking system of bars and meters for the player to track Quinn’s mood and predict how he will react to each development. Quinn’s emotions are measured through four orbs representing the Four Temperaments – each corresponding to a personality type and a dominant responsive trait. The game doesn’t go to explain this interface at length (and it’s hard to imagine any software being able to trace the concentration of sanguine or melancholic emotions in any person), but I do feel like it’s used as a tool to clue the player in to how they should act, as well as to help the writers keep Quinn’s reactions consistent. The player is also able to view a trust graph and a measure of intimacy. If everything goes awry with Quinn and he loses faith in you, you’ll receive a non-standard game over where Quinn will cut connections with the computer, presumably resigning himself to a life in captivity.

Occasionally, you’ll be asked to make a choice regarding what Quinn should do next, at which you’ll receive an adventure-game-style ‘this choice will matter’ animation, and at the end of each chapter you’ll see how the majority of players chose in this instance. There are a swathe of endings to earn based on how you manage Quinn’s emotions and trust with you throughout the game, and these choices become instrumental in dictating how your relationship develops throughout the game. Unfortunately, the choices are just as often a missed opportunity as they are a means to build empathy with the game’s main character. I found that, as each chapter needs a choice to tie it together, some of the earlier choices feel incredibly arbitrary and Quinn doesn’t really take what you say to heart. The choices themselves are also vague: you’ll be given a quick blurb of each one, but once you select it (and before you hit enter on the chatbox), you see what you – the player you – would type, and it’s occasionally not what you would expect from the blurb you were given. From there, Quinn’s reaction is similarly unpredictable. Some choices also don’t fit the game’s horror/thriller vibe at all, making light of Quinn’s situation or asking personality questions when the player character should really be more concerned about Quinn’s safety.
