No matter what area you find yourself in, though, your overall goal remains the same: kill enemies and survive.Thankfully, killing enemies in Slaycation Paradise is a lot of fun. Combining twin-stick shooting with tower defence, you have a huge range of weapons and tools at your disposal. When you’re on the move, keeping enemies at bay with your choice of primary and secondary weapon might be enough. But once a horde moves in, you’ll likely want to bunker down, building an impenetrable defence system around you. Think steel walls, turrets and traps, and as you progress, you’ll unlock more tools to play with.It’s not all about mindless killing, though. Surviving a number of hordes and making it back to the hotel safely might often be your goal, but you’ll occasionally be tasked with rescuing someone, finding a lost item or uncovering some sort of secret. Every area of Slaycation Paradise is dotted with weird and wonderful secrets to uncover, like the giant creature carcasses on the beaches of Terra Feralis, or the weird ritual sacrifices that have taken place in Metro Mexicano. There’s not much of a narrative here, granted, but it adds a nice bit of flavour and a reason to explore every map you’re on.

There’s a roguelike feel to Slaycation Paradise in that if you die on a mission, you’re sent straight back to the hotel, and you’ll need to try it again from the start. But your weapons are yours to keep, offering a rewarding progression system. You’ll constantly find new weapons, and providing you have enough currency you can upgrade what you have in your inventory. You can also equip various modifiers to them, offering a chance to electrocute enemies, poison them or instantly kill them – amongst other things. Other upgrades to your character are available to unlock too, offering you the opportunity to increase your melee power, the speed that you move, and more. Needless to say, no run is ever truly wasted, because you’ll always earn some currency which can be used to improve yourself or your weapons. If you’re a fan of twin stick shooters, there’s a lot of fun to be had in Slaycation Paradise. It’s filled with humour, it looks great, but most importantly, it’s seriously satisfying to play. Laying waste to a horde of weird and wonderful enemies either with a weapon or an array of tower defences never gets old, and with the lure of a better weapon or a new upgrade always being dangled in front of you, there’s always a reason to keep on playing. Only the best will do for our valued customers!It definitely plays better with a controller than with a keyboard and mouse. It’s a short, easy game but I beat it without having a level cap for my guns. So I’m not sure how new players will play with only 5 upgrade levels per weapon. It seems it would change the overall difficulty of the game. The tower defense aspect of the game is useful but it’s not the main focus of the gameplay. So don’t expect having a huge tower defense system like other tower defense games. There isn’t a traditional story/campaign to this game but it has enough to get the overall idea of the setting across to the player. The dialogue was funny and I enjoyed what it had.This has been a very fun game so far. I like twin stick shooters and I really liked how they added the tower defense aspect to the game. My only complaint is there weren’t more levels. I took my time playing it and it still went by really fast. Hope DEV’s add more levels, and maybe some character customization. Other then that, the levels were fun (Little repetitive) but varied enough to hold my interest.The mix of tower defense and shooter was defiantly a good move. Only the best is good enough for our valued customers!As one of these “vacationers,” you’ll travel through space and time to a strange world, like a zombie apocalypse, or a space infested with luchadores that want to wrestle everything to death. But while this is a “fun trip,” you don’t have time to sightsee. Instead, you’ll hunt for blueprints and weapons that might be scattered in the environment that can be used against incoming threats. You’ll also collect scrap, which can be used to construct fences and defensive turrets to blast attackers. After you arrive, you’ll have a limited amount of time to conduct your search and prepare your defense before you’re swarmed from all sides.

At that point, a timer counts down until the travel agency opens a portal to bring you back to your time with any items you’ve found, at which point you’ll receive a score for your destruction, before sending you to the next location. Violence is constant on each stage, and there will be blood shown as you eliminate enemies. There’s also a stage where you’ll face off against inflatable dolls that happen to be naked, although genitalia is blurred out. The game also has a visual style that’s tongue in cheek, with imagery that’s reminiscent of a card found in the back pocket of an airplane seat, which reduces the impact of the violence and other mature content.All in all, Slaycation Paradise is a fun, albeit relatively short, experience that allows me to click off my brain and dump magazine after magazine of submachine gun ammo into blow-up dolls and luchadores to my heart’s content! I highly recommend it! Parents need to know that Slaycation Paradise is an upcoming action strategy game for Windows PCs. The game is set in a multi-dimensional future where alternate world travel is possible, and exploration of these various timelines has become as commonplace as hopping into a car is to us today.
