RITE Switch NSP Free Download Unfitgirl Precision platformers—such as Slime-San, The End is Nigh, or Celeste—can be tough to pull off given their razor-sharp requirements. Make the game too frustrating, and most players won’t even try to overcome the devilish challenges laid out for them. Make the game too easy, and it’ll lose a lot of its ‘hardcore’ appeal. Pond Games’ Rite is the latest entry in this exacting genre, concerning itself with nothing else than presenting you with 160 difficult platforming courses to attempt to beat. There’s no story, there aren’t many level gimmicks, and yet it remains a thrillingly gripping action game that no fan of the genre will want to miss. What immediately sticks out about Rite is how excellent movement feels, something that can make or break a platformer. Your little priest/creature can go from standing to running full speed almost instantly and you have fine control over their momentum as you jump between walls and narrowly slip between saw blades. We did not run into a single instance where a death felt like it was tied to faulty inputs or strange physics; every button press is responsive and puts your character exactly where you intend to. This is especially important given the tough level designs on offer here. While Rite may feel a little easier than its aforementioned peers in the genre, you’re sure to have to take at least a few attempts per level before you finally understand how to pass the axes, saw blades, and prickly vines that stand in your way. It’s easy to avoid being discouraged, too, given that stages only take about a second to reset every time you die. For those who are confident in their platforming skills, every stage has 20 collectible coins that often require you to take more risks; getting them all unlocks the final set of levels, which predictably give you a run for your money. Getting that far doesn’t take too long, however; most of our clear times for levels sat somewhere in the 20-30-second range. This doesn’t include any failed attempts on a stage, but even factoring that in, there were only a handful of levels that took us longer than five minutes to clear. This is perhaps the weakest element of Rite—you’ll probably have gotten everything you can out of this game after a few days at most. But, we found this short run time to work in Rite’s favor, as levels passed by so quickly that it was nearly impossible to resist trying another. As for presentation, Rite goes with a minimalistic approach that doesn’t feel cheap in its execution. Though environments are a little samey, sprites are sharply drawn and your character stands out well from the background, which also helpfully has a grid-like layout to make it easier to calculate jumps. The action is backed by a relatively low-key soundtrack that mixes synthwave elements, guitars, violins, and light vocalizations to create ambient music that fills space without being distracting or repetitive. Plus, it helps set a calm tone that counteracts the difficulty nicely.

Colorful and Pixelated

Rite is an absolute gem that we hope isn’t hidden by bigger releases hitting the eShop. Pond Games absolutely nails the execution of a simple concept and wraps things up before the game overstays its welcome. At the price of just seven bucks (even cheaper at launch), this one is a no-brainer pick-up for anyone who considers themselves a fan of tough platformers; tight controls, challenging levels, and a chill soundtrack all combine to make Rite the easiest of recommendations. RITE is a single-screen platformer with more than 160 levels to test your jumping and timing acumen. Divided into five worlds, each with its own color scheme and musical theme, the game plays pretty much how you might expect. With tight controls and a simple presentation, it’s easy to get into RITE, even if it might not have the variety to keep your attention for too long. From the main menu, you start the game and access the world selection screen, but only the Rite of the Jungle world is available at the outset. After you complete all of the stages in one world, the next one opens up. One exception to this is the fifth world, which can only be accessed after collecting all 20 tokens in every previous stage: a grand total of 2560 tokens. The goal in every level is simple: collect the large token to open the exit door and then make your way there. Sexena: Arena Tales

A secondary objective is in collecting the 19 other smaller tokens. This task is what really adds to the challenge, especially when you have to navigate a series of obstacles and then retrace your steps back to the exit. Attempting to end each of your runs are buzz saws, spikes, and swinging axes, but not much else. There are no bosses or enemies to deal with, and even though every stage is enjoyable to run through, they do all start to blend together after a while. Smart level design can only take you so far in a single-button, single-screen platforming game. It would have been nice to see a new mechanic or gimmick when you moved to the next world, but the change is much more cosmetic than practical. Even though the running, jumping, and wall jumping are tight, the lack of a few other moves to pull off or at least some kind of twist to deal with is noticeable.Ultimately, there’s nothing wrong with RITE. It’s perfectly all right. But there’s nothing that makes it stand out from the scores of other platformers on Switch. As the eShop ocean grows ever wider and deeper, it’s harder and harder for games of any genre to make an impression, let alone rudimentary platforms like this. While I certainly had some fun with the dozens of levels I played, the game isn’t one that will stick in my memory. Being polished and playing well isn’t enough on a platform with so much competition.

Mastery of Difficulty

As a video game journalist, it’s often beneficial to pretend you’re awesome at video games. Of course, there’s nothing about being a video game journalist that qualifies you to be a great “gamer”. Nor is there really anything about being a great “gamer” that qualifies you to be a great games journalist. However, in this instance, I’m more than happy to admit that I suck at platformers. Like, I’m really really awful. So, when going into RITE, a platformer that’s all about completing a level in as short a time as possible, I feared the worst. And yet, without a shadow of a doubt, I had one of the best gaming experiences I’ve had in a while. RITE is a meticulously crafted platformer and one that I keep going back to, time after time. There’s something perfect about RITE’s visual aesthetic. The gorgeously detailed pixel art aesthetic that feels right out of the Fez handbook oozes with style. It adds a wonderful sense of bounce to the gameplay, populating your frantic platforming with mouthwatering eye-candy. However, it is never distracting. You won’t find yourself scrambling to work out where you’re supposed to go, or deliberating whether or not a platform is a part of the background. In fact, the simplicity of the 2D perspective alongside the easy-to-comprehend layout of each level ensures that your platforming experience is as smooth as possible. This is perfect for the speedrunning nature of RITE, which encourages completing a level as quickly as possible. It takes but a second to figure out where each and every collectable that you’ll need to acquire is, and what the best possible route to get them is. Nevertheless, the visuals never veer too far into the functional or practical space. Of course, it is beneficial that their unobtrusive simplicity allows for better platforming. However, I still felt that they added considerably to the atmosphere and tone of each level. There isn’t much of a narrative to RITE – rightly so -, but the visuals do enough to concoct a sense of world, that I quickly became immersed in its jaw-droppingly beautiful arenas. “The longevity of RITE, as well as the exhilarating enjoyment it provides, really stems from trying to finish a level in record time all while nabbing each and every coin.” Of course, the most important aspect of a platformer is the platforming, and fortunately in that respect RITE is unequivocally amazing. There’s a wonderful sense of flow to RITE’s fast-paced platforming that feels unrelenting and ceaseless. Its focus on speed ensures that you rarely stop, instead encouraging you to risk dangerous manoeuvres. While that may seem like a criticism as risky moves tend to result in painful deaths, it ensures that the momentum you build while playing never drops.

Rite of Passage

You will die countless times as each of RITE’s numerous levels are filled to the brim with hazards. However, the developers were clearly conscious of this and have thus altered their game accordingly. Not only is the respawn time lightning fast, but the arenas are small enough that learning the best route through them takes barely any time at all. Suffice to say you’ll rarely spend more than a handful of minutes per level. That’s, of course, not to say that RITE will be over and done with quickly. Each level has a number of coins that you can collect, as well as a timer that’s constantly ticking up. Completing the level quickly is one thing, and can be done by simply collecting a special coin and heading for the exit. However, to truly complete a level you must gather all of the coins and reach the exit. The longevity of RITE, as well as the exhilarating enjoyment it provides, really stems from trying to finish a level in record time all while nabbing each and every coin. This is one of the best pick-up-and-play titles I’ve ever had the pleasure of reviewing.” All of this perfect platforming is neatly tied up in one of the best pick-up-and-play titles I’ve had the pleasure to review. I’m extremely fond of games I can jump into for a few minutes in between bouts of slogging through long-winded JRPGs – I’m looking at you Xenoblade Chronicles 3 – and RITE is absolutely that kind of game. With a large number of levels to get through, it’s not hard to imagine that I’ll be playing this exceptional game well into the future. It couldn’t be simpler to play: there’s a jump button, which allows you to control the height of your jump depending on how long you press for…and that’s it. Simply jump and wall slide your way through each – often wittily-titled – level, avoiding deviously placed traps with pixel perfect precision. With 160 lovingly crafted levels to conquer, there’s an awful lot here to occupy you. The soundtrack is ace too, perfectly complementing the lovely pixel art aesthetic. It’s a game that eventually plays very tough, but also very fair – which is extremely important for a game of this nature. When you die – and you will, often – it always feels like it’s your fault and not because the game surprised you with an unforeseen obstacle or trap. The difficulty curve is nicely pitched too; so many games of this nature are off-puttingly ramped up in challenge from the get-go, whereas RITE allows you the pleasure of feeling as if you’re just about able to progress, even when you’re facing failure after failure. It gently escalates the challenge until you barely notice just how tough it’s become since you started.

RITE from Pond Games is a challenging 2D platformer on Nintendo Switch that is perfect for speedrunning. With 150 single-screen levels to take on, there’s plenty of content in this budget release. Each one can be completed in less than a minute, which is good news for those of you who like to speedrun games, cutting down a second or two here and there with each new try.The difficulty will increase at a steady pace. The first handful of levels will teach you the basics as you get the hang of things. Once you’re good to go, RITE will start to introduce trickier level layouts, as well as throw some hazards at you. These include some very sharp thorns, buzzsaws, spinning spiked balls, deadly blades that swing back and forth,You’ll control your character with the left analog stick as you jump and wall jump with the A, B, L, or R buttons. The longer you press and hold down the button, the higher your jump. You can also press the X button to quickly die and reset the level. For each stage you take on, you’ll need to collect a special key to open the exit. Along the way, you can also collect coins to 100% the game. You’ll know you got all coins on a level because it will display a gold crown.RITE is a fun but challenging platformer of the single room variety, so what you see on the screen as you enter a level is what you’ll have to overcome. There’s going to be a lot of trial and error in your future if you decide to give this one a go, since
