PC Building Simulator 2 Free Download Unfitgirl That’s PC component humour, and not something I would have really understood before spending a few hours in the quiet backroom of PC Building Simulator 2, taking apart machines and components, before putting them back together better than before. Many of these new sim games start out with a whole lot of busy work, and the same is true of PCBS2. You start off in a ratty-looking shop that’s not a million miles away from a place in Cornwall I used to buy second-hand video games when I was at university, even down to the shelves that have partially collapsed and the perpetual clearance sale signage promising that everything really, I promise, has to go. Your PC building batcave is in the back of the store, however, and there you’ll use a handful of work benches to build a PC customising empire, starting by fixing broken PCs and slapping a few stickers of an emoji love heart onto someone’s case, and culminating in full internal rebuilds and also building and flogging your own machines at a profit from the inside of the shop. The journey definitely has stages. At first you’ll spend a lot of your time pulling out the tiny screws that hold the side of a case on and dragging apart the various cables between your peripherals and monitor, and then the screws that hold the CPU cooler together and then the tiny clips that hold the power supply into the case. It’s fiddly work and at about the point you decide, an hour or two into the game’s career mode, that you’re sick of it and you never want to turn another screw or plug in another cable, the game lets you buy a tool to do that for you. From here you’ve done your time, and it becomes more about the freeform puzzle experience of improving PCs and using the cast-offs and spare, used, parts to build your own machines. No other game will ask you to scrap thermal paste off of a used CPU, or pull a stock cooler from a graphics card so you can fit water-cooling into the whole deal. The game is clearly made by people who really care about how PCs fit together and it’s full of nice little details. All of the parts exist in the real world and are fully licensed with all their accurate sizings and compatibility perks, with the weird side effect that your main PC also starts with the same background as your desktop in the real world, letting you get immersed into the world in seconds. I think the game works best as a puzzle game and capitalism simulator, where you try to take the funny little emails and repair jobs that flow into the store and fix the PCs as quickly and efficiently as possible while trying to make bank in every other area of the store. The game’s writing is funny in a quirky way rather than any belly laughs, but it’s fun enough and remains entertaining.

Becoming a nerdy rock star

Buying junked PCs – of which you can get one a day – provides a quick and easy way to make big bucks, but being able to rapidly appraise which of these parts are a simple replacement and which – like a broken motherboard – will sap your will to live is absolutely key. As I mentioned earlier, Spiral House really managed to expand PC Building Sim 2 into something phenomenal. They’ve taken the wacky storyline of having your ‘crazy’ Uncle Tim randomly taking money from your wallet and sending you potentially stolen PC parts and added even more onto the story. By that, I mean that Uncle Tim may have burned down your original shop to commit insurance fraud. But yet, that’s okay because the new shop provides so many features that you’ll forget that your favorite uncle may be on the way to prison. They’ve improved the graphics, added the ability to do visual mods to computer cases, and immerse you in CPU changes with the ability to clean off and reapply thermal paste. To make things even better, PC Building Sim 2 introduces the ability to remove the stock air cooler from your graphics card so you can replace it with its water-cooling equivalent. Spiral House has also upgraded the workbench system in PC Building Sim 2 by giving users the ability to alternate each bench between three different options: Customization, Water Cooling, and Repair. All three of them come with items specific to the task at hand, and can even be switched while holding a PC for those last-minute swaps. Catherine Classic

The game also features a variety of quality-of-life improvements like an always-available tablet that holds a temperature sensor and power meter among a dozen other apps, the ability to assign ordered parts to a customer’s PC so you can keep track, and more. Just looking at the game in passing, you might think that the only objective of PC Building Simulator 2 is to build and repair customers’ computers. While that is a major aspect of the franchise, the new ‘storefront’ feature gives players a way to immerse themselves into the life of a business owner. While you’re running through your list of customers you have to take care of in order to keep your business rating high, the game also allows you to buy broken PCs to repair and sell in your newly renovated storefront. Soon after reaching level 3, the game adds the ‘Spares N’ Repairs’ app to your tablet that allows you to purchase between one and four broken computers. They’re instantly delivered to your shop, and a special workbench in your storefront gives you a dedicated area to work on these spare PCs. They’re no joke when it comes to supplemental income, either. Between sales tax and parts fees to fix the computers, you can bring home the majority of the sale as profit. Which, at the beginning of the game, is anywhere from $700 to $1,200 per computer — with up to four being sold at one time.

Case Spray Paint, Stickers and Themes

Thankfully, things get up and running very quickly, and whether you’re a newcomer to the sim or an old hat, you’ll quickly find yourself settling into the flow of things. Sure, some things are brushed over and simplified – your entire shop can be fitted out overnight for just $500, for example. An absolute bargain. But when it comes to the meat of the game – that is, repairing, modding and building PCs – it’s very hands-on. And if you’ve never touched the insides of a PC before, a bit of time with PC Building Simulator 2 may well give you the confidence to tackle that next RAM upgrade yourself. The amount of detail here is actually rather incredible. There’s a huge range of official brands on board, and you’ll be fitting NVIDIA RTX 3080s and Ryzen 5s into Corsair cases, with Thermal Grizzly paste on hand to help. It’s perhaps these real-world brands that help immerse you into PC Building Simulator 2‘s world. The fact you’ve got such a nice shop and workshop after losing everything is less believable, but once you’re stuck into repairing a PC, it’s a small detail that hardly matters. After all, it’s nice to have pleasant surroundings. Celeste Switch NSP

There are two ways to play PC Building Simulator 2. There’s Career Mode, which we’ll talk about in more detail in a moment, and Free Build mode. Free Build gives you access to over 1,200 components with your only goal to “build your dream PC”. You don’t need to worry about money and profit here: simply put together a beast of a PC and make sure it works. Go all out with RGB lighting, watercooling, as much RAM as your motherboard can hold – the works. And with the game taking component compatibility into account with everything being designed to scale, Free Build mode could feasibly be used to test out a real-world upgrade before you tinker with your actual PC in real life. But the real timesink of PC Building Simulator 2 is of course Career Mode, where you’re thrown head-first into selling and repairing PCs as your full-time job. You’ll be eased in gently, with simple jobs at first: spray-paint a case (more fun than it has any right to be), or swap out a faulty SDD. All jobs come to you via email, and so you’ll need to check your own PC daily to ensure you’re picking up jobs as they come in. The emails will tell you everything you need to know, and so you’ll need to pay attention to the job description. Do you need to buy a replacement component? What colour paint will you need to use? Early on, you’ll be guided through each step by the game, but it won’t be long until you’re on your own. And those small details are important.

New Career Mode

The nature of how jobs come into PC Building Simulator 2, then, makes for a very satisfying gameplay loop. Once you accept a job, it’ll take a day for the PC to arrive with you. But that gives you time to order any relevant parts. Complete your jobs from the day before, collect your payment via email, and check out for the day. Rinse and repeat. It sounds repetitive, but because every job you receive is different, it never gets tedious. Well, as long as the idea of tinkering with PC components appeals to you, anyway. The repair work isn’t all you have to contend with in PC Building Simulator, of course. Not only do you have a workshop, but you also have a store front to maintain. Here, you’ll find yourself buying broken PCs at a discounted rate, diagnosing them and fixing them up. The best thing about this is it can be done at your own pace. It’s a great source of income – the key to any successful business – but you don’t need to worry about deadlines as you do when working on a client’s machine. Take a few days to repair one if you need. When it’s ready, pop it in your shop, set the price, and wait for it to sell.

But nothing happened. Every order went out without a hitch, no matter how hard I tried to sabotage them. There’s a fine line PC Building Simulator 2 has to walk between being an enjoyable game and being a tool for learning how to build a PC. There are plenty of teachable moments in the game that are just looked over, though. For example, an early job came from an aspiring Fortnite streamer whose PC didn’t meet the minimum requirements. The machine just needed a CPU upgrade, but I noticed that the two RAM sticks were installed next to each other (most motherboards need them spaced out between slots for full speed). The problem is that there wasn’t any reward for noticing that problem, nor was there a consequence for intentionally messing an issue like that up on other systems.

The worst issue came when the game introduced its new bench system. You now have access to three workstation types: Building, watercooling, and case modding. The career mode takes you through each bench early on, including filling and installing a custom liquid cooling loop. As opposed to the first game, you now have to mod the components you want to watercool. That involves replacing thermal pads on a GPU, taking off heat sinks on the motherboard, and so on. It’s an awesome system, and I love the flexibility of being able to choose the components I want, both in the PC and in the custom loop. Catch and Release
