New Tales from the Borderlands Switch NSP Free Download Unfitgirl If you’re coming at this game as a Borderlands fan primarily and not necessarily an avid player of narrative-based adventure games, you probably won’t even notice that, but if you are a fan of either of the games I just mentioned, New Tales from the Borderlands will feel quite simplistic in comparison. New Tales from the Borderlands has the series’ iconic presentation down pat. The living comic-book aesthetic with thick black outlines and bold colors still looms large over the experience as it has done for its decade plus of games. The additional detail of skin textures and and different surfaces that has been added on in the more recent games can seem to clash with the simplistic nature of its style at times for me, but to each their own I suppose. More objectively speaking, the game runs well, registers inputs quickly, and does a great job of conveying the character’s personalities, style, and humor, just as any good borderlands game requires.ew Tales from the Borderlands puts us in the shoes of a new trio of characters . We will have from our Anu, a brilliant scientist who dreams of a world without weapons; then we find her brother, Octavio, a street boy who thinks he has what it takes to become the richest on the planet; finally, there is Fran, a woman who manages (badly) the family yoghurt and manages (very badly) her anger. The three are ordinary people, but in the world of Borderlands, destiny is immediately ready to put a hand in them. It all begins when Tediore – one of the many multinationals of Promethea, the planet where the events of the game take place – decides to exacerbate his attempted hostile takeover of Atlas, the company of Rhys, protagonist of Tales from the Borderlands. Anu works for Atlas and must escape from the space station to go down to the planet and save her brother, who in the meantime has become one of Tediore’s primary targets, also involving Fran for whom she works. The New Tales from the Borderlands adventure has all the features one would expect from a Borderlands game . There is no lack of the most extreme and sometimes gratuitous violence. There is no lack of obsession of all the characters for weapons, which is contrasted only by Anu who seems the only one to wonder why everyone is always so violent and fixed with guns. There is no shortage of robots with an easy joke and not even the loot boxes, which obviously contain only money (useful for buying alternative costumes) since the characters have no equipment. The feeling is therefore of really being in a Borderlands game, superficially at least, even more than what happened with Tales from the Borderlands .

The decisions you make determine how your story ends.

The style of the storytelling is also what you expect: extremely comical, always geared to ridicule every action or joke to get a laugh. He can do it? Yes, especially in the early stages, where it almost exclusively points to that as the plot has not yet become serious and there is no room for sentimentality. In addition to the branching story and dialogue, New Tales from the Borderlands has a number of quick-time events for things like dodging and shooting. The QTE’s give New Tales a momentary action-game vibe. Depending on your settings, these can require pretty fast reflexes, though the difficulty can be turned down. While the QTE mechanics work to keep the player engaged and part of the action, they’re also the least interesting part of the game. Finally, each of the players controls some specific tech. Anu has a non-lethal gun that transports targets into other time/space dimensions. Octavio has a wrist computer, and Fran’s hover chair has a freeze-ray weapon. Though not integral to the main plot, New Tales has a selection of mini-games. One of the most entertaining is Vaultlanders, in which the player battles with collectable 3D figures from Borderlands lore. New Tales from the Borderlands also introduces a large cast of secondary characters that appear throughout the chapters. These include adorable pet Ratches, taco stand owners, demolition experts, and hilariously written Rippers. Dust An Elysian Tail Switch NSP

Comic Masterclass Like the best films or TV shows, New Tales from the Borderlands understands the value of clearly drawn characters. The game takes a lot of time at the beginning for us to get to know Anu, Octavio, Fran and LOU13, their connections to each other, and how they will come together. The opening chapter might be the best example of exposition and character-building I’ve seen in a game. New Tales is a comedy, so of course the characters are, to some extent, exaggerations and larger-than-life in the same way superheroes are. They’re all deeply flawed, but equally ingratiating. I’d say they were “lovable” but that implies a bit of after-school special sentimentality that’s not really part of the game. There is, however, emotional range. Despite the rat-a-tat pacing and humor, there are moments when the jokes drop away. Speaking of humor, it ranges from broad jokes to very subtle social satire. Humor in games is always an alchemical reaction between the player’s sensibility and the game’s writing and performances. All humor-based games — even the best of the best — have a pretty high failure rate in the joke department. New Tales from the Borderlands hits far more often than it misses. The humor is extremely smart and only occasionally lowbrow. The story of this game is undoubtedly its strongest point

Is it kink-shaming if it’s shameless in the first place?

With quite interesting moments in terms of science fiction narrative, to which we can add the hilarious jokes of any Borderlands game. And of course, as icing on the cake we have the personality of the protagonists that fits quite well depending on the situation. Sure, there are certain parts that seem like mere filler in some chapters, that makes the thread of the story get lost slightly, because the attitude of the characters changes from nowhere from being serious to ridiculous. Obviously there are quite funny moments, but I think that for specific events you have to maintain a touch of seriousness so as not to brand the work as predictable. For those who have not played anything related to Borderlands, you may immediately feel identified with Guardians of The Galaxy, since they are a group that seems to have nothing in common, but in the end they make an acceptable dumbbell. As for those who already know the saga, they can expect that touch that has caught them so much, since the essence of the franchise is not lost at any time during the adventure. As is evident, New Tales From The Borderlands is a graphic adventure-style video game, a title in which all the weight of the entertainment that is going to be offered to us is the narrative itself. Only to give us a role in the story, we are given certain choices to take a different path than the other players. Dying Light 2 Stay Human

We will go through different sequences in which the characters interact in different ways, be it with certain jokes, casual conversations, serious moments and frenetic action parts. Within the talks, four options will appear to choose from, these are totally up to our way of thinking, and that is the interesting part of the game. The characters are going to have bonds of camaraderie, so depending on the responses implemented, it will be the affinity that they achieve with each other, because if we show them something that they do not want, it is evident that we will lose their trust. On the other hand, if we show them some empathy, they can be of great support in crucial moments. There is not much new for the Borderlands series in New Tales. It closely follows in the footsteps of the last game and only meaningfully expands on its ideas on rare occasion. Narratively, I would argue it’s a less consistently entertaining romp than its predecessor, yet the highs it does hit can feel higher than the ones in the previous game, and that is a trade-off you may or may not like depending on your taste. On the other side of the coin, the clear improvements on the back end make for a more pleasing gameplay experience despite the mechanics themselves being more focused on faithful replication of how the last game played rather than overhauling or advancing anything.

Octavio surprisingly grew on me over time He’s a bit annoying but has a good heart.

As a result, it’s pretty clear this is a Gearbox game and not a Telltale game, but as a follow-up to Tales from the Borderlands, it undeniably checks more boxes than not, and shows that Gearbox is capable of putting out Borderlands games in both of the genres it’s taken part in. Bottom line? Fans of this spin-off series and genre might be a little underwhelmed by the strict allegiance to the rules of its nearly-ten-year-old predecessor, but will more importantly continue to be charmed and entertained by the new faces and situations that this newest tale brings. The more dramatic side of the story grows in the final phase, with the characters that are becoming a little more close-knit group and have realized that their actions have a weight on the entire planet and perhaps the entire universe (impossible to be more precise without do spoilers!). It is in this part that New Tales from the Borderlands struggles a little. In a slightly too simple way, New Tales from the Borderlands inserts a phase in which it puts the characters in front of their weaknesses, all obvious to the player from the first moment since they are the most important element of their characterization. However, the game fails to make characters face and accept them credibly, making the transition from “random fools” to “role-conscious heroes” ineffective .

Let’s be clear, we’re not talking about a total plot derailment. Simply, the characters and the narrative fail to express the true potential and the ending is adequate, but less impactful than New Tales from the Borderlands would have deserved. New Tales from the Borderlands also picks up on Telltale Games’ game structure . As a “choose your own adventure” style game, you have to continually make the characters decide what to say, partly influencing the relationships between the three. In reality, however, the choices have weight only on the final and in the middle there are no major events arising as a direct consequence of our actions. Gearbox’s work is a bit more closed and linear than many of Telltale Games’ ones. It’s a shame, since the € 39.99 required for the game also gave the impression of a somewhat more massive project. Between one dialogue and another we will then have to complete a series of QTEs . Gearbox, in this case, has decided to make things as simple as possible, anticipating the arrival of a QTE command indicating on the screen where the icon will be and what kind of button we will have to press (lever or button). Getting the QTEs wrong is a choice, not a lack of skill. I tried to pick the most out-there options to see if they would give me any more insight into the characters, but to no avail.

With the exception of the literal climax, those big choices with consequences lasting the whole rest of the game also appeared to be missing. Gearbox made a big deal about wanting to be less obvious about when you’re making a big choice for the sake of immersion. Sure, in theory, I could have been more immersed if the story was well written and the choices were compelling. But hiding big choices from the player and not clearly coding how those choices were paying off made New Tales from the Borderlands feel really on rails, even if my playthrough would have looked completely different to someone else’s. Even the slightest bit of transparency, like something as simple as a story tree at the end of each episode a la Detroit: Become Human would have been to their benefit here. Everyone’s favorite, the quick time events, really take center stage on this one — especially when you factor in the new mini-game. The characters start making a big deal about these little figurines you can find, and when you battle with them, it just throws a bunch of QTEs at you and calls it a day. They were also so easy I think I got hit once in one of these fights in the entire series. The fighting game reference is cute the first time, but it overstays its welcome really fast.
