It is most reminiscent of thatVA-11 HALL-A , where you also talk to customers for “professional” reasons. Decisions about the course of the conversation influence the details of the plot, which is by and large always the same. However, Chance Agency, the studio behind Neo Cab, makes more reference to current topics and directly addresses numerous aspects of digitization and automation. All of the characters that Lina meets embody a certain aspect of the scenario, gaining depth the more they get into the cab, and the mostly relaxed cab rides are an excellent platform for storytelling in this way. It is also interesting that Lina earns money with the taxi rides in order to pay for overnight stays of various prices and also to charge the battery in her vehicle. The quality of your talk doesn’t only determine whether you get a tip or not, it’s also absolutely crucial for your driver rating. You have to maintain a rating of four stars or higher or you risk a deactivation warning. Failing to raise your rating theoretically ends the game, though I tried doing as poorly as I could and still didn’t hit a game over state. Chance Agency was inspired by the rating real Uber drivers have to maintain, and playing the game you notice very quickly how devastating it can be to get anything but a perfect rating, though my inability to truly fail undercut that feeling somewhat.
