LEGO The Hobbit Free Download Unfitgirl To the great surprise of no one, the Lego games are finally going there and, well, not quite back again in Lego The Hobbit. The game follows the first two films of the Hobbit movie trilogy, giving us a chance to lead Bilbo and company all the way from the comforts of Bag End to the dwarf home beneath the Lonely Mountain. It’s a fun journey to be sure, but confusing at times, and not entirely satisfying. Lego The Hobbit clings to the series’ standard combat and exploration, but, as usual, a handful of welcome twists make things a bit more interesting this time around. A few different rhythm-based challenges, an item creation system tied to resource collection, and the “find the missing piece” mini-game from February’s Lego Movie game make The Hobbit more than just a button masher, although it is still mostly just that. Thankfully, the environmental challenges and enemies are sophisticated enough to keep the action engaging. In comparison to the roster in last year’s Lego Marvel game, many of the characters in the Hobbit feel like, at best, minor variations of each other. It certainly doesn’t help that they all sort of look alike, and it can get a little confusing to tell the dwarves apart. But you’ll need to pay attention, as each dwarf has one unique ability, like Bombur’s ability to turn into a bouncing platform or Bofur’s mining power, that needs to be applied to the narrowly scripted environmental challenges. The extended action sequences and sometimes slapstick humor of The Hobbit films make a good fit for a Lego game. Honestly, there’s always been something a little disjointed about watching Cyclops wreck the X-Mansion or Luke Skywalker destroy Yoda’s house, but seeing the Dwarves go to town demolishing absolutely everything in Bag End or Rivendell makes perfect sense. When you see them literally start smashing Bilbo’s cupboards and Elrond’s tables, it just feels right. From the plate juggling in Bilbo’s kitchen to the golden toilets in Smaug’s hoard, there are also loads of humorous little touches that keep the charm going. Lego The Hobbit also looks beautiful. The settings are very convincing, with loads of little details and plenty of suitably moody lighting. The world is filled with fantastic creatures and monsters, and developer Traveller’s Tales has done a great job adapting the giant eagles, goblin kings, and dragons to the standard Lego models. The only real problem with the graphics is that the more realistic color palette and sheer density of some of the scenes can make it very difficult to see who you are or what you’re doing. The sometimes inconsistent camera angles don’t help things much. More than once, I just found myself just attacking and jumping at random in the hopes that I would eventually figure out where I was.

Chip the Glasses and Crack the Plates

The main story clocks in at about six hours, but there’s much more to do and see in the world once you’ve completed the main missions. Each mission unlocks events around the map, and you’ll be able to spend hours digging into the recipes, errands, and encounters around Middle-earth. A campfire system lets you change the time of day to open up new events, and you can always call on a giant eagle to get you from one end of the map to the other. While most of the missions are fairly predictable, I was impressed with the Hobbit’s take on the solo sections. For Riddles in the Dark, Bilbo’s joined by a dazed goblin, for instance. There are also some tremendous set pieces where the characters are facing off against the dragon, or climbing up the body of a very active and very angry stone giant. Unfortunately, the story sort of goes by in a flash. Last year’s Lego Marvel showed what Travelers Tales can do with an original story, so The Hobbit’s abbreviated, sometimes scattered storytelling feels like a step back. There are narrative bits tying the missions together, but the whole game presumes that you already know the source material well enough to fill in the gaps yourself. (You probably do, but if you’re playing with kids it might not be clear to them.) It’s particularly troublesome to track the events between the spider attack and the dwarves’ arrival at Lake Town. The game also ends where the second movie ends, which left me wanting more – and not in a good way.  Kingdoms and Castles

How long has it been since we last played with our digital building blocks? Three games based off the popular Lego playsets in six months is a multicolored plastic brick overload, especially since each game in the series feels all too similar to the last. And yet, it’s amazing what a simple change of scenery can do to make something feel brand new again, as Lego The Hobbit is just as fun and full of charm as we’ve come to expect from Warner Bros’ long-running series. If you’ve played any of the previous Lego video games, you’ll recognize the formula instantly. Over the course of the six-to-eight-hour-long narrative, you’ll run through 16 missions that follow the plot of the two Hobbit films. Taking control of the plucky hobbit Bilbo and a band of dwarves, you’ll demolish scores of Lego objects and rebuild them out of the debris, switch characters to solve puzzles, and find tons of hidden secrets along the way. It’s actually pretty impressive how closely Lego The Hobbit follows its source material, even if most of the nuanced character development is lost in the Lego franchise’s signature tongue-in-cheek fashion. In fact, Lego The Hobbit is one of the most narratively complete licensed games TT Games has made. If, that is, you don’t take into account the ending. Because the third film in The Hobbit series hasn’t been released yet, Lego The Hobbit only covers those first two films, leaving players who finish the game with a highly unsatisfying cliffhanger.

To Dungeons Deep and Caverns Old

Future DLC will rectify that by adding the final film’s events to the game, but it’s still disappointing to reach what is essentially the 2/3rds mark in this story and have it just cut to credits. Other than a new crafting mechanic and a small handful of new abilities, Lego The Hobbit is almost identical to previous entries in the series. That’s not to say that the game doesn’t offer a ton of stuff to do. In between story missions, you’ll explore the massive world of Middle-earth, with your travels taking you from the humble village of Hobbiton, through the elven mountain town Rivendell, into the murky forests of Dol Guldur and beyond. There are countless sidequests peppered throughout your voyage, and the various citizens of Middle-earth have requests that reward you with Mithril bricks for crafting or those elusive cheat-enabling red bricks. These quests range from interesting (solving riddles and platforming challenges) to dull (fetch quests or escort missions), but there’s a decent enough mix of the two to keep things from getting boring. Even after completing the main story, I was only 30 percent finished with all that Lego The Hobbit has to offer. That being said, there might even be a little too much going on. Bilbo didn’t go on this adventure alone–along with Gandalf, there are 13 dwarves that make up the company that sets off in search of the Arkenstone. Jurassic World Evolution 2

During your adventure, you’ll be switching between over a dozen different characters, each with unique abilities–and all of these are required at certain points in the game to progress. I found myself frequently wondering who had the flail so I could cross a gap, or who had the shovel so I could dig up some soil; with so many characters available, this becomes overwhelming. And though Lego The Hobbit does list who does what on the character select screen, it can be difficult to parse at a quick glance due to the sheer amount of information. The crafting system piles on top of the massive amount of characters and abilities as well. While interesting, it can also be very frustrating to deal with at times. As you break every single Lego-built object that isn’t nailed down, you’ll often find bits of wood, rope, gems, bread, or other items along with the typical Lego stud currency. Collecting these is important, as you’ll often stumble upon quests or roadblocks that require a specific number of crafting materials to progress. It’s fun when you finally get enough pieces to craft some really interesting weapons, tools, and Middle-earth-themed structures, but unless you’re breaking everything in sight on a constant basis, you’ll likely be just shy of the items needed to continue. Despite its faults, there’s a reason that these Lego games are still fun despite so frequently getting new entries.

Fun as the main missions

And even though the narrative here only covers the first two films, make no mistake–Lego The Hobbit is jam-packed with as many secrets, as much content, and as much plastic bricky-goodness as you would expect. By this point, you’d think Lego might be tempted to rest on its laurels with its video game franchises. It’s got a solid mechanic with a great sense of humor and licenses that sell well just by virtue of being the Lego version of a popular series. So it’s fantastic to see titles like  and now  continuing to push the evolution of the series. On the PS4,  is the first Lego game that takes advantage of the hardware, with a noticeable increase in visual fidelity. It may sound weird to tout the visuals in a Lego game, but THE HOBBIT so perfectly nails the lighting and set design of the films that it would be eerie if you weren’t staring at plastic minifigures. Make no mistake, this is the best-looking Lego game the developers at Traveller’s Tales have made yet, and the higher resolution textures and lighting just give the whole thing a more polished sheen than ever before. also pushes the cooperative gameplay of prior titles even further. With I was surprised how cleanly the developers divided tasks between individual characters’ special abilities in order to force players to switch often, or if two or more players are working together, pay attention and collaborate. Goes farther by giving the dwarves collaborative gameplay where they must constantly help each other directly, linking up to climb short cliff faces, cross a gap on a grappling hook, or create a two-man team to fight one of the large-sized characters (like Trolls). This is complimented by each character’s normal and unique abilities. It’s possible to change weapons in the middle of a fight to choose the best one. Most of the dwarves also carry axes, which can be used to smash cracked rock plates, usually creating a tumble of bricks and studs, but some carry unique weapons like bows, slingshots, flails, and spears, each which has targets in the environment that only it can take down. While each character has these unique abilities, it may be possible to find or craft special items with the same abilities on replays of the levels Story-wise, there’s nothing that new, as the game uses the licensed audio from Hobbit 1 and 2, along with goofy Lego visuals. This makes the story weaker in comparison to which had an original plot but was on par with the other film-related games in the series. It’s funny and charming, but it’s essentially The Hobbit-lite. Production value is high, with gorgeous drawn illustrations between cinematics narrated by Christopher Lee (Saruman) giving the scenes context and reminding players what’s going on in the story if they haven’t sat down with it in a while. And boy, is it possible to stray away from the story.

Instead—they are given to you after completing a level, or are unlocked and available for purchase with studs on the expansive overworld Middle Earth section of the game. As you play the regular missions, new areas and “events” in Middle Earth become available. These events range from skill- or character-based challenges, to quests given by NPCs to earn Mythril or Red Bricks, often by delivering crafted items from the new crafting system. The crafting system adds a lot more incentive than the traditional collectibles of the past. The items you craft all have a specific function. While some are just cosmetic (a cape that makes you slimy), others may be weapon variants that are more powerful than the standard-issue ones. Crafted items can’t be used in Story modes of levels, but they can also be equipped by any character at will during the Free-Play and Middle Earth sections. To craft something of course, you need its material components. This is the first Lego game that rewards you with something more than studs when breaking down Lego objects and enemies, with precious gems, and buildable materials functioning as “Loot.” Not just for crafted items, loot is also necessary for Lego Instruction Builds, a mini-game that has come over from THE where you create a set object out of Legos, selecting the correct parts at certain intervals in a timed challenge to earn more studs, in order to fulfill level or quest objectives.
