LEGO MARVEL’s Avengers Free Download Unfitgirl Not to be confused with the excellent LEGO Marvel Superheroes, LEGO Marvel’s Avengers is a Marvel Cinematic Universe-specific take on the familiar LEGO game formula, which has mostly led to a game littered with obvious, unfortunate restrictions that end up making this one of the weakest of the many LEGO games. The plot is perhaps the most obvious problem, due to the way it frantically jumps between scenes from The Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: The First Avenger, Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Rather than being an interesting take on the MCU chronology, it’s so mixed up and out of order it’s likely to confuse anyone who hasn’t watched all of those films fairly recently. It feels a lot more like a series of uncoordinated vignettes than the high-quality, cohesive package we’ve come to expect from LEGO games. Ignoring that mess, the occasional crashes, and a tedious puzzle minigame that pops up far too often, LEGO Marvel’s Avengers is still a fairly decent third-person action-adventure that mostly focuses on fairly light, simple combat and some environmental puzzle solving, usually using abilities from specific characters to flick switches, pull levers, and open locked doors. The one good innovation here is the cinematic team combos, showcased in the first mission, an impressive recreation of the opening scene from The Avengers. Where previously most combat in the LEGO games has been a series of mashing buttons to get through to the next, equally-blocky bad guy, LEGO Avengers introduces more involving, specifically timed QTE-like sequences. Here, an enemy will have a button prompt above their head and, if you press it at the right time (and the window is generous), you’ll execute a nicely animated combo move. Do this while you’re near a co-op partner and you’ll execute a devastating, engaging, and often fairly funny team combo move, with animations that vary depending on the two characters involved. Hulk ends up punching Thor at the end of theirs, for one. The environments in that first level, and a strange assortment of others – but not all of them – are also the most realistic looking, dense places we’ve seen so far in any LEGO game. The various open-world ‘hubs’ – Manhattan, Asgard, Sokovia, Washington D.C., Barton’s Farm, S.H.I.E.L.D. Base and Malibu – are all remarkably well-fleshed out, familiar locations that are a delight to simply wander around, but they’re also littered with collectibles and side-quests. In any of these hubs, you can pull up a list of one of the 200+ playable characters and pick any that you’ve unlocked to traverse the environments with

The Old Stomping Grounds

Quicksilver is particularly good to use in Manhattan, for example, considering it’s so big and he’s so fast. Almost everything in LEGO Marvel’s Avengers is co-op friendly, too – even the open world and the side-quests within them can be played by two players at once, both doing totally different things (including separate side quests), with dynamic or a horizontally fixed split-screen. This means you can unlock extra characters and character variations twice as fast. Some of the story missions aren’t quite the same, though, since of the more epic battles from the films – like Hulk versus Iron Man’s Hulk Buster – has the second player doing almost nothing, waiting for the first to finish fighting the Hulk. Because of a stubborn adherence to movie accuracy there are a surprising amount of sequences like this, where one player is almost completely useless, in a way that takes a lot of the fun out of those co-op experiences. It’s not a constant flaw, but, in comparison to previous LEGO games, it stands out. Attempts at keeping the game as close to the movies as possible also affected the audio in unfortunate ways. Lines of dialogue pulled straight from the films and mixed into the game sound really unnatural, and dull compared to some of the newly recorded lines from Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill and Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson. While on paper the idea of using the voices of actors we’ve come to know from the films sounds like it would make the game feel much more authentic, it also means a lot of awkward silences and repetition of lines – they couldn’t record new dialogue, so instead they sometimes don’t say anything at all where it seems like they should. After the success that was LEGO Marvel Superheroes, TT Games teamed up with Marvel once again to allow fans to dive back into the brick universe. This time in LEGO Marvel’s Avengers, players will dive into the cinematic worlds surrounding the team of heroes sworn to protect the world. Of course, this changes how things play out in comparison to its predecessor, so let’s take a look at how it stacks up. From the very beginning you’ll see that LEGO Marvel’s Avengers is a different game from Marvel Superheroes. Sure, they both use LEGO figures and have tons of humor for fans of both universes to enjoy, but the world and missions structure has been altered. Where the previous game was an original story created to involve as much of the Marvel universe as possible, LEGO Marvel Avengers adheres more closely to the recent films. The game opens up with a shot-for-shot recreation of Avengers: Age of Ultron’s first scene (with a bit of laughs tossed in for good measure). The game keeps this up as it steadily jumps between the films in order to build wonderful missions for players to enjoy.

Co-Op Ball Drop

In particular, how they introduce missions from the movies is a highlight. Instead of just running players through the films as separate entities, flashbacks and other tricks are used to introduce missions from other movies. For example, when you first meet Captain America, you’ll be dealing with him as he is in the first Avenger’s move, but his memories allow you to dive into key moments from The First Avenger. However, only Captain America gets the full cinematic library treatment. Other stars have only their most recent works included such as Iron Man 3 and Thor: The Dark World. This isn’t bad though, as it keeps the team-centered focus in play at all times. You are an Avenger and you will fight as one whether you like it or not. As is the case in most LEGO games, LEGO Marvel’s Avengers has a focus on co-op gameplay so there is never only one character on the screen. Most of the time, you’ll be teamed up with characters from the Avengers or Agents of Shield. It’s standard fare, but the new cooperative attacks (can be pulled of in single and multiplayer) make things exciting. Every character can do these, but there are special ones that involve specific combinations. For instance, using Black Widow and triggering her team attack with another Avenger will launch her into the air to rain down bullets on her enemies while twirling upside down. The shift to slo-mo and the fact that it clears out pretty much everyone on the screen is a nice touch that keeps the momentum up. Iron Man 

While the story is definitely focused on the Avengers, there are over 100 characters spanning the Marvel universe for players to unlock and use. Characters such as Count Nefaria, Crimson Dynamo, Fin Fang Foom, and other long lost classic heroes and villains return for some action. Of course you have your more popular characters like Jessica Jones as well in for the fight. LEGO Marvel’s Avengers seized the day and included classic fan favorites, obscure characters, and some that are just simple fun. It’s an amazing look into the long history of Marvel beyond what’s popular now, and an excellent way to introduce a new generation of fans to the universe. The world in this latest entry isn’t a huge open world like the one before but, it isn’t super restrictive either. There are several hubs for players to explore in between missions if they so choose. At any time you can go to space and move to previously played missions or another hub. Each has its own secrets and fun activities, so it maintains the LEGO feel just on a slightly smaller stage. The mission areas themselves offer a bit more variety this time around as well. Switching between available characters was always a major component of the LEGO games, but things go a bit further this time. Sometimes you’ll switch not only between two characters, but each one will have its own specific play mode for that mission.

The key sequences

The opening mission for instance takes place at the opening of Age of Ultron. At one point you will need to utilize both Captain America and Iron Man. Captain America sticks to the ground as he beats up minions and disables turrets; while Iron Man sticks to the skies, taking out drones and even collecting power-ups sort of like Resogun. You can switch freely between the two as you please, using Iron Man to build up combos or gather health for Captain America who has a lot of enemies to deal with. While Marvel’s had a tremendous amount of success at the box office over the last decade, the comic publisher has been relatively quiet on the video game front comparatively. There have been a few exceptions to the rule, but Marvel has been almost singularly focused on the mobile game arena. Over the last three years however, TT Games has managed to release two Marvel games under the Lego banner to sate fans hungry for Marvel action on a console. Though TT Games has been delivering licensed Lego video game adventures for over a decade, Lego Marvel’s Avengers feels as fun and fresh as it has in years. It also gives Marvel fans a new spin on stories and characters they’ve spent a great deal of time with since The Avengers hit theaters in 2012. Lego Marvel’s Avengers takes its inspiration from Marvel’s most recent cinematic excursions. Not counting The Avengers, every bit of story this time around is based on one of the core Avenger Phase 2 films. The original team-up film and its sequel, Avengers: Age of Ultron, are where you’ll spend the bulk of your time, with Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World and Captain America: The Winter Soldier each getting a smaller bit of story to flesh out the experience. All five movies are replicated with the same slapstick Lego humor you’ve come to love over the duration of the franchise, with a lot of great visual gags being thrown in at the expense of the dialogue ripped right from the films. There is a bit of original writing and acting in Marvel’s Avengers, but that’s mostly confined to the open world areas you’ll get to explore after finishing off the first film’s storyline. It’s great to hear the actual actors delivering the lines you remember so well from the films, but it can be a bit stilted due to sound mix not matching up with the game’s original audio exactly. Additionally, like the Marvel movies, you’ll want to stay through the credits for some extra goodies. As strong an effort as Lego Marvel’s Avengers is, there are some nagging issues. Driving cars is about as fun as waiting in line at the DMV. They control pretty sluggishly, which isn’t a problem when you want to just get around a stage, but when trying to complete some of the races to unlock new items/characters

it’s supremely annoying to have to restart because you missed a turn and couldn’t course correct fast enough. The story missions rely way too heavily on the discovery ability, which characters like Iron Man and Black Widow make use of most. The mini-game of searching for a handful of hotspots is all fine and dandy the first few times you have to do it, but by the time you finish the first Avengers movie story, it can feel like the only thing you’ve done is bring up the little tablet readout to find a hidden switch to progress. For the most part though, everything else controls as smoothly as it ever has, which makes sense given that TT Games has had a decade to perfect this formula. Lego Marvel’s Avengers brings a big roster and some new twists to the familiar TT Games model, and it makes this latest Lego game a strong effort. There are a lot of great jokes, there’s a ton of replayability, and most importantly, there are a lot of characters you know and love that would otherwise almost never get a chance to star in a video game. There are still some small annoyances preventing Lego Marvel’s Avengers from being an outstanding game, but TT Games has shown it still has some magic up its sleeve to keep improving upon its long-running franchise. the Marvel MCU and also Captain America The First Avenger. These are all faithfully reproduced, but injected with all the humour we have come to expect from TT.
