Hell Warders Switch NSP Free Download Unfitgirl While the Tower Defence genre might not be quite as big as it once was, there’s still room for more additions if a developer can bring something new and innovative to the mix. Or, at the very least, do the job competently enough to represent its compatriots on Nintendo Switch. Hell Warders, from Hong Kong-based developer Anti-Gravity Game Studios, certainly doesn’t tick the former box thanks to some clunky controls and a general lack of originality, but it does offer an entertaining way to kill waves of mindless enemies with friends. Following a similar template to the likes of Orcs Must Die! and Pixeljunk Monsters 2, you’ll play one of three Gothic-styled heroes as they attempt to stem – you guessed it – the hordes of hell from taking over a suitably fantasy-themed world. Your goal couldn’t be simpler: erect a series of defences in a series of small arenas and vanquish systematic waves. Most Tower Defence games tend to rely on a top-down view as you monitor your units, but Hell Warders drops you into the middle of the action, a la a third-person shooter. In-between waves you can choose to place units at certain points in the map by flitting between them, or upgrading them to make them more effective (and increase their chances of surviving). The more enemies you kill, the more glowing orbs you can collect and upgrade your AI-controlled units when that wave is finally slain. Unfitgirl.COM SEXY GAMES

You start off with just a handful of lance-wielding knights, but the further you progress the more types you’ll unlock. Archers are your classic long-range griefers, while sorcerers are ideal for slowing enemies down, making them easier to dispatch. Each arena has a different layout, and the real strategy comes not so much in what you do when a wave is initiated – chaos tends to be the main theme when hell is quite literally unleashed – but how you prep beforehand. If you’re willing to stick with it, Hell Warders offers a lot of reward for the tacticians who learn which corners suit which units, and how placing a certain type in a certain locale makes them most effective. Considering lost units take all the upgrades invested with them to the grave, that placement really makes a difference. Most arenas have multiple points of entry for your demonic foes, so each wave is often a matter of jumping between multiple funnel points as hordes of demons in various nightmarish forms trundle towards a floating blue crystal that represents your base. You need to keep said glowing abstraction intact, and the better shape it’s in when the final wave is destroyed, the better your score (and your rewards) at the end of a match. It’s your classic Tower Defence set-up, just with you mindlessly mashing the attack button.

Custom Made Heroes

The thing is, if you’re going to base your game around an action setup, you really need to make sure those mechanics hold up to constant use – and Hell Warders’ really don’t. Whichever character you settle for, you really are just relying on your basic attack and a handful of special moves. Whether you’re playing as a knight who didn’t get the Dark Souls gig, a burly and bearded heavy who may or may not have accidentally wandered in from an audition for The Elder Scrolls Online or a gun-toting dandy (who presumably gets all of his attire from a tailor in Bloodborne’s Yharnam), there’s very little strategy or nuance to be found when you’re actually in the thick of it. Enemies come in various shapes and sizes, but most tend to just rush your base so it’s more a case of rushing in to smash them or hanging back to pick them off with ranged fire, depending on your choice of character. A handful of types do actually require actual thought to dispatch them, such as dark sorcerers that deal heavy damage and healers that buff their fellow demons as they surge forwards, but most are just variations on a monstrous theme. There are some quirks to certain maps – such as grates that periodically set alight and burn anything running across it (including you) – but most are just corridors and stairways that lead to your base. Despite the odd mix of tactical prep and completely chaotic wave control, Hell Warders simply isn’t built for solo play. You can play the entire game in single-player, but the whole thing is clearly designed for multiple players and it’s near impossible to stem flows of enemies on your own. Thankfully, you can play locally or head online and batter the denizens of hell with some company; with friends or randoms at your side, Hell Warders can be quite fun, mainly because with four players it’s quite easy to overstock on orbs and max out every unit at your disposal. It’s odd that with an extra month of development, Anti-Gravity still didn’t address the vast differences in difficulty between either of its modes. Remember when just about every second mobile phone game was from the tower defence genre? There was a period where it was a little like the roguelike genre is today, with developers falling over themselves in excitement to announce that they’ve created a new tower defence title. Those were good days too because when it’s done well, the casual strategic challenge of a good tower defence is hard to top. Sadly the heyday of that genre has just about passed, and now developers are instead looking to build on the residual appeal of the faded phenomenon by making the tower building stuff just part of the experience. Hell Warders is the latest attempt at a genre blend, mixing gothic themed action with tower building.

Back to Hell

The good news is that it does mostly succeed. In Hell Warders, you play as one of a few heroes that look like prototypes for Diablo classes, and in each level you’re tasked with defending a glowing orb thing from invading hordes of demons. If you were by yourself, this would be an impossible task, since the hordes come in waves of dozens after dozens, and from multiple directions at once. Thankfully, you’re also able to build yourself a range of medieval knights, wizards, archers and more exotic heroes, who will stand on the spot and attack any enemy that comes near to them. If you’re a fan of tower defence, you have almost certainly played this kind of game before. Dungeon Defenders is the big one that many would know. I remember spending many hours playing that with the early era DDNet team back when the site was designed to exclusively review the little indie games that were being released on PlayStation Network (it really wasn’t that long ago where there was a strict line between what was released for digital download off those platforms, and the big budget retail stuff). There are other options, too; Orcs Must Die! can be played on current generation consoles, and it does much the same thing. Like those other titles, Hell Warders even benefits best when playing in multiplayer. Demon hordes come in from multiple angles, and just as the strategy behind placing towers is simple Dead Alliance

But effective and enjoyable, so too is the strategy in working with more than one person to cover all the horde paths. Hell Warders allows for up to four player co-operative gameplay, but it’s worth noting that it’s highly recommended that you play with at least two, as the difficulty curve seems to assume that you’ll be playing multiplayer, so that in single player the game feels unforgivably brutal. For all its structural similarities, what the developers looked to do differently with Hell Warders is the theme, and there is something viscerally entertaining about seeing a horde of truly ugly demonic monsters descending on you through a rift. It’s not the most unique idea, of course, but the directly behind-the-back perspective lets you stare down the horde as it comes rushing in, and, before the wave crashes against your meticulously placed defenders, seeing that is a Book of Revelations-style apocalyptic vision that never fails to get the hairs on the skin to rise up. Sadly, once demonic flesh is tearing into knight’s armour, the visual spectacle of Hell Warders goes to hell a little. There’s just too much on screen happening at once to really make out anything in the chaotic melee. Your “towers” can be killed, for example, but I could never really work out what I had lost until the very end of a wave of enemies. You could argue that there’s a lot of thematic sense in that; those brie

Allowing you to level up your units

Two or three minutes from the end of the wave until the next one gives you the shortest of breathers to take stock, and forces you to be on your toes even during the moments of “rest,” but it gets so chaotic during enemy waves that it’s too easy for the action to descend to a case of flailing about and just hoping for the best – particularly if you’ve selected a melee character to play with. This too works somewhat in multiplayer, as you can designate one of your team’s ranged character classes to hang back a little and keep an eye out for weaknesses in the line. But for single player, there’s too much to follow, too often, and I failed at more than a few levels because enemies would slip through the cracks and I wouldn’t be able to get back to deal with them in time. The other big problem with Hell Warders is the lack of a decent narrative. This game has the most gorgeous level and character designs, and yet the narrative is stretched incredibly thinly, and aside from an intro, what storytelling there is usually happens right when you’re in the thick of the action. You don’t necessarily need to follow the story along, since the game is structured as a series of levels one after the other and don’t rely on context to be playable, but there’s a great sense of lore about the design of Hell Warders, and it’s a pity the developer didn’t put more effort in there. Dead By Daylight

This is especially true given that you can level your characters up as you would in an RPG (and thus will want to know more about them than the narrative shares), and there’s a large number of artifacts and the like to earn through playing that you’ll find intriguing enough that you’ll likely want to know more about them than the narrative gives you. For this kind of setting, you don’t need an overwhelming amount of depth in the storytelling; Diablo proved that a lot can be done with a relatively thin storyline when you’re setting players the task of dealing with demons and other such hellspawn. But you do need a think narrative, just to give the action context, and Hell Warders left me wanting far too often. If you can get a group together, then Hell Warders is a lot of fun that you won’t soon forget. The action is tight, the challenges is robust, and the setting is impeccable. For single player tower defence, there are better options on the Switch (namely PixelJunk Monsters 2), but nonetheless there’s a lot of effort and talent that has gone into Hell Warders. The developer has a great basis here to build on from here, either through DLC or additional titles, so it will be interesting to see what comes next.Only through a mix of some smart defensive planning, supplemented with your ability to move around the battlefield and fill in when necessary will you survive, and this is especially true if you try to go it solo.

In the planning phase before each wave you’ll get to examine the entry points and flow of your enemies towards the orb you’re defending and then place a growing variety of units to help slow and destroy the attackers outright. You have both a monetary and unit hard limit to consider so you’ll need to carefully consider where and what you’re placing, often wanting or needing to focus your initial and most critical defenses near the end rather than risk getting caught by surprise as some enemies manage to trickle through your front-line defenses. Once you allow the current wave to proceed the game will throw hordes of enemies at you and you’ll get to see how well you planned. No matter how well you’ve done there’ll inevitably be some surges that will overcome your units, meaning you’ll have to get involved. Depending on whether you go with melee or a ranged character will somewhat alter your tactics but in general you have a base attack and then some special attacks on a cooldown. Being smart and trying to focus your efforts on taking out enemies at bottlenecks tends to take the direct pressure off of you more and it may also save some of your units so you won’t need to expend currency to replace them. There are a few issues really holding the game back though. The first is that the performance of the game on Switch is noticeably janky.
