This is the meat of the game, and I would say that the gameplay itself nails the landing – it’s smooth, snappy, and has togglable options for character cut-ins and animations. Unfortunately, it would also seem that crossplay between the PC and Switch versions is not possible. There is no option to rebind keys, and mouse/keyboard usage is rather limited. I tend to play on the Steam Deck, which requires modifying launch options to work correctly – but it still runs very smoothly. As a bonus, my game tells me that it supports a resolution of 449072992×0, which I’ve never seen before. Overall, I land on the side of recommending the game. While the negatives may seem significant, if you can stomach the price or are from a region where it is priced lower, it provides a solid Cardfight!! Vanguard experience. From the time I watched the Youtube animated show back when I was 12, to getting my girlfriend into the show less than a week ago, to spending an exorbitant amount of money on booster boxes, to the game coming out a day before one of the biggest open world rpg games. I had taken a decade break from the game to come back to it being playable digitally, let alone on STEAM! This is the game that you want to play if you are a true CARDFIGHT fan.Get this only if you really really want to play vanguard overdress format, otherwise it’s a bit overpriced for what it’s offering.. if you could get it on sale, it’s a good game to mess around. Also avoid the DLC and season pass, they are way too overpriced for something that should have been either a free update like Master Duel does or included into the game in the 1st place. The game does having glaring faults such as translation in story mode, lag, frame drops, and a big difficulty curve after 3 fights in the story. Past all those problems you would find a very addicting and well functioning digital card game. Getting the cards you want is simple and easy thanks to the farming option from CPU Fights and it’s crafting system. Initially, the cards you don’t own are fairly expensive. Once you do craft one copy, all other missing copies are just half off the original crafting cost.

I know the price is fairly high but I had to look at it like I was buying a digital booster box. This game is also amazing for play testing your decks and learning all of the cards. I am currently sitting at 14 hours played in the first 2 days of the game. Leave a comment for when you saw this review to see how much more time ive put into the game. I plan on playing this game more than I would like to admit. IF price is not an issue this game is an easy 8/10 for TCG videogames. I will gift whoever reads this review once I reach 100 hours of playtime. GL and STAND THE VANGUARD. You are charging 70 dollars for the dlc and 70 dollars for the base game.Add up the taxes and thats around 76 dollars a piece and is not worth it. The products are also the best for new/beginning players to use and are very easy to afford. The aesthetics and designs of the UI, characters, playmats, and sleeves are really solid and easy to look at and appreciate. If you are skeptical because of the price (depending on your country), the demo is a good entry point to start. Although it doesn’t do the overall game any justice since it’s only two story fights. I recommend this game to people who want to play vanguard in their homes and those are love to play TCGs. Love Vanguard but this is rediculous..getting my refund it was already a struggle to spend so much money but now its just a really scummy design.Back to the mobile game I guess to those who actually enjoy this I wish you the best of luck but for me the journey ended at 45 minutes after 3 cardfights. I enjoy the game. I started playing vanguard when it first came to the us with the original royal paladin and kagero starter decks and participated in some tournaments when i was collecting cards (great nature and spike brothers my favs). I know plenty of people may not enjoy the $70 price tag which i can agree seems like a lot.

Not to even mention that Set 6 & Above are DLCs and are released Feb 2023 onwards.

But considering i put $100s if not $1000s on card packs just to not pull the cards i want, this is a cheaper overall option to enjoy the game. I think the controls and UI still could use some work here and there but overall i think this is a great option if you dont have the time or money to go out to your card shops to participate physically. Honestly if they continue to support the game and make the card dlcs basically shortcuts to get cards quicker, pay to bypass grind not pay to win, while you can still grind in game for packs, (i can usually get 6-7 300vp packs after each match, then im fine with the prices they are. As long as nothing is heavy $ locked then the current prices for the dlcs are fine IMO. But if it is a situation where they add packs into the game where you can only get the cards from a set if you have the dlc then thats different and i think those dlcs should be a bit cheaper for the players who dont mind grinding card packs. Like maybe $5 for each few new sets they add (maybe $1-$5 for 2-3 new card sets with $5 pricing for sets like the shaman king or Token Ranbu sets so we all can continue to fund the game so it can continue to grow and evolve) in with the option to buy a shortcut dlc to grab all the vards from a specific set. Overall i enjoy the game so far and hope it continues to grow. I hope for more additions like tag matches, free for alls, etc as time goes on or maybe even old formats for those who likes the original cards or V format. Now stand up Vanguard! I’ve played for 16 hours now and I still recommend the game. In the story mode you still earn VP to get packs along with some other special cards for playing the story mode. The starting CPU helps ease you into the game as things slowly get harder. But if you want to stress test a deck or two you can go to battle CPU fights and choose the difficulty of the opponent (based on folk you unlock in the story) to help test and develop decks (still earn Vp win or lose). I hope when they add more packs into the game and such that they are reasonably priced additions per set like i mentioned above. All current dlc seems to be cosmetic except the Character packs which seem to add 1 CPU to face, their deck list, and some specific cosmetics for the chaaracter.

Its a great game with the original mechanics that i known and loved.

Now, these may sound like conflicting statements, but hear me out. The amount of content the game offers, specially in the the amount of decks that you have access to (sets 1 thought 5, plus lyrical 1 and 2, plus festival collection 1 and 2, and the PR pack) is already enough for the 58.99 euros to be well worth it in terms of VALUE alone. However, even if it is good value, it still has the issue of not being very accessible to new players. Because the price is daunting to someone that has no idea if they will even like Vanguard to begin with. I would like to introduce some friends to vanguard through this game, but the price is definitely too high for a new player to try the game. With this said, what I think they should have done was make the base game come with less content included (moving those sets to paid DLC), in order to make the base game either free or much cheaper. However this is what we got for now. For new players wanting to try out the game, I recommend waiting for a sale.

This game is totally worth the price, but if you don’t know if you will like it to begin with, just wait it out. For people that already like Vanguard as a game, I totally recommend getting the game even in its current price. The amount of cards that we have access to is well worth it. And its nice knowing that there is more DLC on the way! Game is grossly overpriced and the controls are pretty subpar on kbm, but it still does it’s job of providing a fun card game simulator to play Cardfight Vanguard. If you’re a cardfight vanguard fan and want a convenient way to play the game online, this will provide you that. I recommend anyone interested in this game to buy it on sale and plug in a controller as the game was made to be played with a controller.

Unfortunately, my recommendation only applies to people already familiar with Cardfight Vanguard. The tutorial is VERY poorly translated and only tells you the most basic rules of the game, so if you don’t know how to build a deck, or what a ride line is, or what boosters come with the cards you need, you’ll just be looking up that information online. The game itself is perfectly functional, and it’s actually fairly easy to earn cards in the game with the rate you get the in-game currency, especially since there are special boosters available in-game that only have R and above rarity cards in them for each of the nations and a card-crafting system that lets you take cards you won’t be needing and use them to make the ones you want. Which, again, unfortunately doesn’t help unless you already know which cards you won’t use to scrap for the cards you want. The story is neat.  Atari 50 The Anniversary Celebration Switch XCI
