However, even on the easiest mode, I was unable to build to stop the multiple waves that end up spawning on top of one another. I guess my vision of what I thought this game was doesn’t match the never ending need to have a near perfect build and game play to stay ahead of the curve. I hope the developers find a better balance in the end. Back to back spawns with no downtime is just killer…Wait like maybe 6 month but i would really say a year. This game is so not smooth and very confusing and i do not mean the graphics. The Tutorial is really bad like i do not know how many games in my life that i have failed the Tutorial more than 6 times yet alone cant even survive more than 20 mins into it. Miners and engineers just run off no matter how many times you gather them up and block off your base so they do not run away. I have not actually experience anything fun yet in the game, i literally cant survive long enough to amount to anything enticing. Could this game be good in the future ya i can see that. There is a lot of potential here: Several rather unique units and their functions, and several upgrades for them. A unit with an interesting magic upgrade system attached to them. There is also a great deal of synergy possible between units. For instance, the ranged unit can be upgraded to inflict bleed, which the Berserkers can “absorb” on a hit, healing themselves for a portion of the bleed damage.You can also construct a bunch of different traps for enemies to gleefully wander into. And believe me, you want traps. The overall aesthetic is pretty neat. Nothing too grand, but it’s generally nice to look at. Unfortunately it’s currently covered beneath too much scuff and some things needs tuning. Such as the entire game being far too dark unless you spend a research point on free lights you can spam all over the place. Luckily it FEELS as though these bugs and mechanics can be ironed out relatively easily to create a MUCH less tedious experience. There is not a single critical design-choice at the moment that breaks the entire premise of the game is some way.

If interested in this type of game but you don’t wanna buy it now, I can at the very least recommend wishlisting/following the game. Just a basic WArcraft 3 style RTS. Nothing to write home about. Visibility is bad. Don’t believe the screenshots. The available viewing range is zoomed-in, and extra zoomed-in. Can’t scale out enough to get a sense of the map or surroundings. Everything is pitch black. You’d expect dwarves in any setting to have some form of dark vision, but not in this. The only thing to do is constantly build expensive street lamps, which only light up a very limited area next to them. The AI for the engineer pawns is annoying. They won’t simply sit still. They are constantly paving floors and walls, even if you don’t want them to, and if you accidentally uncover something dangerous as you fumble about in the dark, they seem to want to run directly at it, even though they are a non-combat unit. The “tutorial” is just a to-do list, with no real explanation of how to accomplish the list of tasks given. Could be fun, even if it doesn’t offer anything particularly new to the genre, but it needs a lot more polish to be worth the asking price.Fun and challenging game, with a pretty limited game play loop. Lots of potential, but definitely not for everyone. If you enjoy city builder/wave defense games, this may be for you; especially so if you like dwarves, Overall, 6/10 from me. Potential to be better if some things are smoothed out, and some balancing tweaks made.
