Army of Ruin Free Download Unfitgirl Army of Ruin is a fun 3D auto-shooter similar to titles like Vampire Survivors and Soulstone Survivors. Here, you’ll be slaying countless armies of evil until you get a shot at defeating the fearsome Army Generals. Each hero possesses unique skills that will help you battle the hordes of enemies. You can also utilize the equipment and trinkets available in-game to find the most powerful combination that works for you. Developer Milkstone Studios launched Update 5 for Army of Ruin. It brought a couple of notable features, such as Ruin Levels and Turbo Mode. Ruin Levels essentially make enemies in Army of Ruin more challenging to defeat. Expect to see more enemies spawn on the battlefield, with increasing difficulty as the mission progresses. Ruin Levels effectively replaced the “Curse” system back then. Don’t worry, all of the coins spent on curses will be reimbursed after applying this patch. Because this is an auto-shooter game, it can take some time before it ramps up and becomes more enjoyable. To alleviate this waiting problem, a new feature called Turbo Mode is added to give you the ability to increase game speed to your liking, though keep in mind that this affects all the things in Army of Ruin, including your enemies. Turbo Mode can be unlocked at three stars. Replaced Cooldown skill and trinket effects with Rate of Fire. Many values have been increased so they remain useful. This was done to avoid exponential improvement of stacked Cooldown upgrades that quickly got to the capped value, leading to performance and visual issues on top of being extremely powerful. Modified Igneous Orbs effect so they’re not permanent and are not considered as a downgrade from the base weapon. Halved coin rewards from challenges (the money will NOT be lost if you already had unlocked it). We went a bit overboard with this in the last update, making the later stages a breeze because of the amount of money spent on upgrades, so we’re dialing the rewards down a notch. Get hold of a deadly arsenal capable of slaying hundreds of enemies in seconds, and you may have a shot at defeating the fearsome Army Generals! Use the unique skills of each hero to turn the tides when they least expect it. Enhance your trinkets and equipment and find powerful combinations that will evolve your weapons beyond their limits! Level up your skills between missions and test new combinations as you keep earning rewards, unlock new equipment to become even more powerful and face the hardest quests. Hundreds of challenges await you! Army of Ruin has been designed to offer a quick and thrilling game experience, while also focusing on simplicity and fun. Get ready to enjoy the game for hours! Not to sound like That Guy, but I did actually play Vampire Survivors before it was cool and never suspected how much it would take off, nor that it would spawn its own subgenre of “auto-shooters”, “bullet heaven”, or whatever you want to call them. I’ve only played a few of its offspring but Army of Ruin feels like its in the upper echelon of such, which is unsurprising given developer Milkstone Studio’s past efforts. AoR shares much in common with the Ziggurat series: Exaggerated fantasy setting, colorful, toony characters and graphics, old-school, arcade-style weapon design, both per-match roguelite and persistent progression, and so on.

Army of Ruin Countless Foes.

AoR even shares some of Ziggurat’s sound library. For those unfamiliar with Vampire Survivors and other games of this type, Army of Ruin is an admittedly simplistic but addicting form of top-down shooter where your weapons fire automatically, requiring the player only to move your character in order to better position themselves and pick up experience gems from defeated enemies. Get enough gems and you level up, giving you a choice of new weapons or passive buff trinkets. Compared to VS, AoR is more of a slow burn. Combat overall is slower paced and you start with only four weapon and trinket slots, with the other two, as well as a variety of other upgrades, locked behind purchases made using gold found in the levels, which persists between runs. You can upgrade damage, max health, pickup radius, experience rate, number of projectiles per shot, and much more. On the other hand, AoR’s characters all have a stat that scales with their level, which only some of the VS characters do, others having only flat bonuses or some that even expire after gaining a certain number of levels. In VS, it’s possible to “evolve” your weapons into more powerful variants if you have a specific matching trinket. You can also do this in AoR, but you need only have a trinket with a matching elemental affinity, though in AoR you need two. Most weapons have two different affinities, a few need two trinkets of the same affinity. As in VS, to actually evolve the weapon you need to fully upgrade the weapon (Only to level 5 in AoR, as opposed to 8 in VS) and then open a treasure chest.Cities Skylines

Which drop from wave bosses as in VS, but unlike in VS can also randomly spawn in the stage once you have a certain feature unlocked. If I may nerd out briefly here, Milkstone also once again included a welcome nod to the 1994 fantasy FPS Heretic in the Gauntlets of Necromancy weapon, functioning very similarly to that game- it even gains lifesteal and its blasts change from green to red when you evolve it, much as it did in Heretic when boosted by the Tome of Power! AoR also has a variety of powerups, including the precious “XP vacuum” item that will pull all loose XP gems in the stage to you as in VS, but also a piggybank item that will do the same to cash drops. There’s also speed boots, a tome of power that will massively increase your firerate, a blue flower that freezes all enemies on screen (save bosses, who are only slowed by freezing), and a bomb that will wipe out normal enemies outright. These items can appear at random in the stage once you have the aforementioned feature unlocked, but can also drop from elite enemies. Said enemies can also drop cash and health items, which can also appear from destructible items in the stage. Health items appear as the classic chicken leg, slices of watermelon, or slices of… avocado? Sure, why not. There are only three stages in AoR at the time of this writing, but they are subdivided up into escalating difficulty tiers with different rewards There are a LOT of challenges overall, which when completed grant new characters, stages, weapons, trinkets, or simply gold rewards.

Power in your own hands.

The devs are still in the process of adjusting game balance given the very recent Early Access release, so some grind may be necessary to progress past certain stages… especially Forge 1 and Forest 3, in my experience. Of course, not long after I wrote that, EA Update 4 massively increased the gold rewards from challenges and retroactively awarded existing profiles with the difference- I suddenly found myself with 90,000+ gold to spend and a massive, welcome power boost. Milkstone knows how to keep you in the roguelite loop. For fans of Vampire Survivors, arcade shooters, and/or roguelites with persistent progression, Army of Ruin is worth your time and its very small price. I’m looking forward to see what Milkstone adds to the game in the coming months. Here’s my review: The hours played was in one session, and I didn’t realize that it had gone on half this long. I bought this because Ziggurat 1 and 2 are great games, and this one didn’t disappoint at all, featuring some of the same philosophy and fundamentals that makes those games hum. I may re-review this at some point, but what more is there to say but that this game is a blast? I’ve been playing a lot of survivor games lately. Soulstone Survivors is still my favourite at the moment, but this game comes in second.  Nice graphics A good choice of weapons whose effects are well differentiated  Some strategic choice while playing. You have weapons that can reach ‘ultimate’ abilities but only if you have the corresponding types of boosts. So there is strategy in picking your selection of weapons and what boosts that both help your build and will allow some ultimate forms to come out. Grinding for permanent progress. Sifu Switch NSP

I love this aspect, it feels so much more satisfying. Brotato is another survivor I have enjoyed, but simply beating levels at higher difficulties just for the sake of it isn’t so motivating/rewarding, and although I bought them both at the same time, I find myself playing mostly AoR. Also if I die near the end of Brotato I just get frustration, while the same happens in AoR and I at least have a bunch of gold I earned during the run as consolation which still allows me to keep progressing. After playing this game for an hour and having played through Vampire survivors and Brotato, my early opinion is that it is significantly better than Vampire Survivors and Brotato, which were rated “overwhelmingly positive”. One major standout is the graphics… the graphics are way better than the other two. There characters models of players and monsters, the environment all seem carefully drawn with a 3D effect to them, unlike the far inferior pixelated graphics in the others. 8/10 At this point I’m not sure if there is a story yet…but I consider artwork parallel to a story component…well Vampires has a dope artwork and style (even if its mostly copied from Castlevania), a however this has like a good art style, better than Brotato clearly and a bit less than Vampire Survivor maybe… Its very good, and very detailed…not as good as Diablo but very good. 8/10 I was really pleasantly surprised after an hour. There is a visceral feel to the gameplay, when you shoot someone there is more of a “feel” to it than the other two. Army also has modest environmental components like gates and walls that can block the player… and feel it captures the essence of this type of game.

Upgrade your arsenal.

Slightly better than the other two although…at least in the first hour playing just one character I did kind of miss the variety of upgrades I had in Vampires, but then again that’s coming from having played the endgame and having unlocked every character. I have a feeling this will catch up. I thought the weapons were unique and different from vampires. They were a bit modest, after having become very familiar with Vampire’s arsenal and how the 6 weapons sync, however I feel that may have been intentional. This game was intended to be harder, with more complicated bosses, and it was striving to not copy….so even though I missed some of Vampire’s weapons, after an hour I was steadily appreciating the new weapons and combinations more. 9/9 At this point this game is a 10/10 for me as I have only played 3 of these type of games and its better than the other two and it feels really addictive when there is a lot of other things I should be doing right now lol highly recommend Update: About 6h later. This game is better bc the spec system is improved over Vampires, allowing you to tailor your spec to your play style. The combat while about 90% the pace of vampires is 180% more strategical, making it more fun IMO. Earlier I commented about the more visceral aspect of combat, and I notice several details that do this like the sound effects when characters get hit and how they get pushed back. That is an improvement. It is also more difficult and requires more thinking to do beat the stages. I can’t get over the price of the game. At $3.99 this is the best game on steam Period. Vampire Survivors 2 is pretty good, I don’t think it was necessary to put out a sequel 7 days after the original released but updated graphics do look nice.

Weapons and items are mostly the same as the original but named differently. Although the roster of varied characters has been reduced, they now have stats that scale as you level which really differentiates runs much better than the first game. Unfortunately some of the more creative aspects have been trimmed and content is a little lacking despite in all other sense it being a copy/paste of the first game, I suspect this is something they will add later as they have opted to release this as early access. No achievements and not as many unlocks as VS1, but I suspect this will change in time as well. Music, graphics and gameplay though are almost on a par with the original. Tons of Weapons and Passives (30+ of each at time of review), more characters than are expected (16+ at time of review), 3 stages with 3 duration/difficulties, each having 6 levels of additional challenge (Ascension-type levels). Weapons range from the standard (it’s a damage aura!), to the interesting (this weapon only fires right, but it’s strong!). Passives are generally more interesting than VS as well, either more conditional or just slightly more interactive than a flat stat bonus (the +money trinket also gives +damage for a short duration after picking up a coin, it’s pretty strong). If you like the genre, I can recommend this one without issue. You likely won’t end up with 100+ hours, but 30+ hours for a couple bucks is always great value. I tried to like this game, really. Some mechanics seem interesting relative to competitors. But all this spoils the speed of the game — the enemies move too slowly, the attacks are carried out too slowly, even at the last stage I don’t feel any kind of rush, as in other representatives of this genre.

Sometimes I want to increase the dynamics so much that I start to lose patience and go right through the crowds of mobs, which naturally leads to death. I didn’t feel that way in the vampire survivors, for example, even half an hour later the same run might be of interest.  If you don’t mind meditativeness, the game is quite difficult and can offer some challenges right now. However, I really hope that the devs will fix this aspect of the game. In my opinion, this genre is simply born for faster gameplay.  I’m sorry to admit it, but even with the turbo mode, my feelings haven’t changed much. I want to be clear: the game itself is not bad and it has enough positive reviews, which means that a significant percentage of people rated it positively. I also think it’s a good game, but what I’ve described above may help a number of people with similar expectations to mine not be disappointed with the purchase and at least wait for more patches. I also want to note that with the latest updates, the game began to feel better than it did before, so it is likely that the focus and content of this review will change in the near future. And what merry adventures you’ll have. All of said merry adventuring plays out as follows: you find a fellow dwarf, talk to him (or her? I’m not sure since they all had beards), he/she gives you a few lines of dialogue and/or a quest, and you venture forth to gather resources and kill goblins. Eventually, once you’ve gathered enough resources, you can craft certain buildings in order to give you and your growing dwarven posse upgrades and even more materials. Once you’ve done that, congratulations! Hope you want to do those merry little activities forever. Crossing Souls Switch NSP
